Does all this offer of credit mean Luann is 18?
live2read over 11 years ago
One of those offers was how I got my very first credit card. Unbeknownst to me, my parents received a credit card offer from Beallâs (a department store) that was designed to help teens start building up credit. So my mom filled out the form, my Beallâs card came, and I began using it. Being the reliable person that I am, I paid the bills on time, built up good credit, and got more credit cards (not too many, though; I donât want THAT!). Now at 44, I still pay my bills on time and have good credit to show for it. Of course, this may not be a good idea for all teens. It all depends, really, on how reliable and responsible they are.

Luann has a car?! (So Frank says, panel 2.) When did that happen?
Mikeyj over 11 years ago
Some bottom feeder stole my Brotherâs credit card number and spent thousands on an extended vacation in Mexico, it took months before he could get the credit company off his back
sarafaye over 11 years ago
Interestingly Frank doesnât seem so upset by the financial indications that Luann is becoming an adult.
honeysum over 11 years ago
I noticed the same thing, Sisyphos. only because I didnât have my own car in high school (1952-54), nor college, nor till I was 36, which was when my 16 year old daughter needed my wheels. How differently my life would have turned out, had I had the independence of unlimited horizons.

I recall how my niece had a difficult time getting her first credit card and when my son received a credit card application for a sears card at 16 I thought why not have him get it and develop a credit history even though It basically was just an extension of my own Sears card. This proved his credit worthiness and a basis for his own credit. I doubt he needs any help now being heâs worth quite a bit for his job and investments.

No, Luann, they love you for your mind, just like we do. They love you donât mind consuming..
Get a credit card.
Treat each purchase like cash paid out (because it will be) and donât overspend. .If you ever need to rent a car, you will need that card. It will help you when you become a jetsetter
TORAD_07 over 11 years ago
Itâs probably more the âcarâ than anything else. The âfuelâ credit cards are easier to get when under 18. And thus begins the credit history. Sheâll start to get more. Whether she actually gets the credit is another matter.
I recall when AMEX actually marketed their standard green card on our undergrad campus. It was the 1st card I ever got, even before Dept. store and fuel cards.
Now, I canât wait to get rid of them all! :) Except the one fuel card and one VISA just to keep up appearances. :)

I still remember a co-worker, who was in her late 20s, when I asked about an expensive vacation she and her husband took, saying âwe didnât have to pay for itâwe put on a credit card.â

My first son is a senior now too! We only get college applications right now though in mail and email. Color brochures just about every day! His college of choice? The one ten minutes away!

âYou have an educationâ â best punch line in todayâs funnies!
JayBluE over 11 years ago
Actually, mail isnât the only way that they getcha coming and going, these days⊠if you were to call to look into some further education for yourself, or a family member, even if you sere just âpoking aroundâ, they seem to get the cue to have their reps call you for days, to get you to sign up! Or if you check on their website, all of a sudden, you may get spam or regular e-mail from them, as well as the snail mail variety of their âhooksâ!âŠ..

Iâm sorry that the arc about Quill alone with the food truck ended with no resolution. I was hoping that Guntherâs mom would come to the rescue and end up taking over the truck. That would mean sheâd be spending more time with Quill and possibly Gunther would end up jealous of Quill for reasons other than LuannâŠ

My Boss at a classified project used the shedder output as hamster habitat. We kidded him the shedder lube oil made for really slick hamster fur. :-)
Argy.Bargy2 over 11 years ago
Surely you jest (Yeah, I know, âdonât call me ShirleyâŠ) Those who send out the thousands of credit card applications donât care if the mark they are aiming at is in debt up to his or her eyeballs or not. Itâs not their worry. They get paid by the number of apps they mail out that come back completed. Someone else has to worry about suing for nonpayment.

Whoa. I missed the stunning details the first time through. You have TEN years of college to pay off? So you earned a PhD? Please tell me it isnât in Greek or Roman philosophyâŠ.

Either that, or the Pitts school system is that prestigious enough that even an undergraduate is more equipped than any other, including the prep schools all overâŠ.

Thatâs what I was wondering, I donât remember her getting a car. I think Greg is thinking of Sabrina ^Actually, the car that Luann drove with Frank being a âbackseat driverâ to pick up Quill, to take him to the camp, is hers. With Frankâs reluctant approval, she was able to buy it from a connection of TJs⊠it was red, at first, but this time around has turned green.

(or why Quillâs parents allow him to keep coming back to Pitts). ^Yeah, really!âŠ

I forgot about the forums like Facebook and all, where people pretend to talk about the threads and go: âYeah, ainât that a trip? By the way, you are wasting your life away, because I can show you how to make Eleventy-seven million dollarsâŠ. and all because you breathe and can look at a computer screen! Plus, you can win an Xbox, for practically nothing! Go to www.blahblasityblahblah.com to find out how!ââŠ.

I thought it was over yesterday!⊠I targeted something else, and used my âallocated record hunting fundsâ on something else, already⊠I just got back now, and I see that itâs already over⊠but itâs okay, I found something else that Iâm chasing, and will be able to use it more than Mr. Nimoyâs collection, anyway⊠but thatâs part of the beauty of the huntâŠ. the paths may cross againâŠ
