Mondays recognition of our own Levi is actually a message to get in touch with Greg. He is wondering who you are, as evidenced on his facebook page. Apparently he is very impressed with your love of Bernice.PS, I already knew your last name Mikey, I saw that on FB also when you commented on a luann or greg page. Don’t remember which.

Luann intends to major in clubs and malls. Let’s hope she can find a college that offers an “inner beauty” scholarship.

Wow, TG day with Aunt Vicky…. long time readers know about AV, but, for those of you who haven’t read Luann from the beginning, Aunt Vicky is that relative of indeterminate age (from 45-100), who never had kids & who pinches cheeks and comments on how much the kids have grown, all while smearing them with lipstick… we ALL have Aunt Vickys in our past, and we wish they would leave us alone, until they pass away; then, we miss them. (My Aunt Vicky was my Dad’s Aunt Rose, a sweet old woman that I never appreciated, until she was gone)

Pardon me please – as I put a final touch on yesterday’s theme. Today’s middle frame looks closer to mauve (as I understand it now) than yesterday’s. Both are bracketed by the blues. So is mauve the color of conflicting interests?

As far as Quill’s Thanksgiving celebration with Luann’s family is concerned… I’m more interested in whether Brad and Toni will be invited to go to Aunt Vicki’s. Nancy was so cold to Toni several Thanksgivings ago. Would be nice to see a warm Thanksgiving with Toni as prospective daughter-in-law.

Today’s strip seemed a bit sexist & condescending, then remembered by 1st year undergrad. My dorm floor was filled with young women from Chicago looking for boys, looking for good sororities, looking for good restaurants…. Many of them got “D” letters at mid-term, so my RA asked me to tell them my secret to being on the Dean’s List.*“Study every night,” I said. “Go to every single class and take good notes. If you have a question, ask the TA after class.” The groaned and walked out.*Many of them left after the first semester.

Maybe for Thanksgiving Quill will try to serve deep-fried turkey from the food truck, resulting in a fireball that shrinks the size of the “Luann” cast by two members. We now need to make room in the strip for Aunt Vicki, after all.

Or, “Hey, Vicki!” (apologies to fans of Toni Basil)^I was actually gonna say: “I’m Sick Of VickI” (From Luann’s Standpoint), but who knows how this will turn out?…. -BTW, you might also want to “apologize” also to fans of Racey (AKA Alive ‘N’ Kicking)… little known fact, their song “Kitty” by band members Mike Chapman (who went on to produce Blondie) and Nicky Chinn was reworked into what we now know as “Mickey”…..

Actually, a whole bunch of stores have announced that they will be open on Thanksgiving day, because they are so worried about the weak holiday market. So, instead of ‘Black Friday’ (the day after Thanksgiving, when the sales in stores put them ‘in the black’ for the first time that year), we will be having ‘Turkey Thursday’ this year. It will be interesting to see if the buying public actually does flock like a gaggle (bunch?) of turkeys to the malls on Thanksgiving day…

Probably because Nancy’s the “sentimental type”, and she wants to make the point to Luann that “family should be with family” instead of anywhere else…. – Now, when you have it good like that, and family can be agreeable, it can be good to enjoy their company, and strengthen the bonds… but … I know that there are some family who will “convince” the rest of the family to get together, even though a lot of times, there’s arguments and all kinds of stuff that will be going on…. so that everyone will feel obliged to sit in the same space with others, with the hopes that everyone will somehow “bond” and all, before it’s all said and done…(or some family members try to do it, because they at least would just like the “appearance” of everybody getting along)… -And that’s one good thing about sports on TV, then….it gives some help to the gathering!…. That is, unless it’s Dodgers Vs. Gians, Blackhawks Vs. Redwings, Bulls Vs. Celtics, Ravens Vs. Steelers, Falcons Vs. Saints, Redskins Vs. Cowboys, 49ers Vs. Raiders, Broncos Vs. Patriots….

I have found that Ramen Noodles with duck sauce, sweet and sour sauce, or Thai peanut sauce work just as well, instead of using those salty flavor packets…. actually, to me, the noodles are like a “blank canvas” and can go with quite a few different sauces/dips/condiments….. – My wife likes hers with corn in it, although I don’t, rather much…at least not together, like that…

    Ramen Noodles

Brd & Whiz – I didn’t discover these until grad school, at which time I was smart enough to read nutrition info— way too much salt! So I press the packet firmly to break the brick, pour 1/3 into a cup, add 1/3 of the salty flavor packet, and add frozen veggies to the top. Then fill with boiling water. *Still not exactly healthy eating, though 2/3 less lethal.

Dave & Eagle— I don’t know where this mauve discussion came from yesterday or today. The only “mauve” I’ve known has been the sexy “Mauve Salon” of brothels (as described in novels) and the way-cool woman of the wild who married into royalty in Price Valiant, at which point she became a bore. (For her wedding guests, she had her pack of wolves enter the church & sit in the balcony. Now she darns socks.)

They are a big rivalry, but apart from Flyers/Pens, and Phillies/Pirates, the other teams don’t meet each other as often (in baseball and hockey, they are both in the same division, and so see each other more often, more than once in the same season, even, whereas “Iggles” and “Stillers” are only once every four years or so)….

Les Nesman’s description of the turkey drop is of course closely patterned after the famous radio broadcast of the Hindenberg disaster, using some of the same phrasing. It is funny, in spite of its having its roots in an actual historical incident that was of course tragic.>The turkeys are dropping like sacks of cement…

but by my way of thinking, that is a little young to be so fixated on a single boy. ^See, this is also what I think, as well. It would be a ripe time for such a scenario to take place, and it would mimic what happens in young relationships… – As much as Luann has been boy crazy, and then all of a sudden she’s in a “steady” relationship, she’s never had any of the “in between”… she’s never had the “growing pains” that happen when you are 17…. some of which are things that Brad and Toni have experienced…
