This “spending time” with people we don’t particularly care for is a long time tradition parents have imposed on their offspring for generations! Although the visited person may be grateful, for kids its like watching paint dry. Parents should be aware of that and understand that kids might not share their enthusiasm…

Hi, just catching up and noticed from the previous days’ comments Gregg’s honorable mentions for Levy and Mikey. Congratulations, that is so cool!!!
Sisyphos about 11 years ago
On the one hand, I sympathize with Luann. On the other, I feel sorry for Brad: when I cat-sat for my cousin and her husband’s vacation, the first thing the cat did the first day was to express her displeasure by pooping all over the finely polished wood of their formal dining room table, as well as the kitchen floor. Took me added extra hours to clean up and (especially) to restore the finish of the table….

It’s nice seeing a little ghost of the childhood bickering between Luann and Brad. It’s kind of sweet.

Who is Aunt Vicki?
timzsixty9 about 11 years ago
is that what’s known as “feeling the LOVE!?”

What day of the week is this trip supposed to be happening? Is Luann skipping school? (How far away does Aunt Vicki live, anyway?)
timrinaldo about 11 years ago
I still say it’s a set-up so Tiffany is unleashed on a lonely Quill…(then again, they don’t have Thanksgiving in OZ).

Hey Greg! I’m on GoComics now (and so is OUTNUMBERED) so I can see LuAnn all the time now!

Brad will invite Toni, Shannon, and TJ over to the house. When the DeGroots get home, they will find that all the walls have been smashed with a sledgehammer.
Argy.Bargy2 about 11 years ago
The best result of this would be if Aunt Vicki was now too frail to hug anyone, and Luann actually found that she missed all the attention. Of course, that won’t happen….

Luann is 17 now and will probably find her aunt to be more interesting than she did when she was younger. Too bad she isn’t interested in needle work because then she could keep busy while she listens to the older people chat. I still think a walk to see the nearest college campus would be a good excuse to leave her aunt’s house for awhile.

“I was surprised and elated in equal quantities when I first saw it.”-Did you see Greg talking to you on Facebook?

@LeviticusGreg Evans: “Several people pointed out the GoComics/Luann comment page yesterday, with the amazing posting by Leviticus. Leviticus, whoever you are, I’m overwhelmed by your accolade. Thank you! That same day has this great drawing of Bernice…”

OH, just noticed that that comment by Greg was 2012! Thought it was this November. Still, it is notable.

@sisyphos:that’s why my cat stays outdoors at all times-not that she poops anywhere inside the house, but she climbs on tables, tries to taste or steal people’s food etc. and she’s happier there, she can climbtrees and hunt vermin to her heart’s pleasure!

The thing for young people to remember when dealing with old people is that they were and are more than the grey haired, retired, elderly personages they seem on the surface. If you get talking to them, you will find that many of them have had fascinating lives. I remember when a friend of mine went to an aircraft museum and saw a number of seemingly inconsequential, elderly male volunteers around the place. Upon talking to one of them, it turned out that they had all been World War II fighter pilots

“I went back to reread what had caught his attention and guess what? It was deleted.”
Dang! I had wanted to read it too. It must have been noteworthy.

Nancy’s lipstick looks smeared. And Frank looks very relaxed.

What were you guys doing (those of you who were around and old enough to remember)?
Alananda – I was in 3rd grade, standing at the sink washing my paint brush from art class. The principal walked in, whispered something to the teacher, who gasped and began crying. We all went to the gym where we were invited to pray if we wanted or think good thoughts if we wanted for the sake of the president as we all watched TV.*Soon, we heard he had died.
imbaldeagle about 11 years ago
I was beginning employment, a few years after college. Walked with a buddy to the cafeteria for an early afternoon coffee and heard that the president had been shot – didn’t know whether it was fatal. Spent all weekend with the TV on 24/7. Saw Rudy shoot Oswald LIVE early Sunday afternoon and thought there must be a conspiracy and Oswald had to be silenced.

Did you read “Arlo & Janis” today?

Not difficult to figure out what Brad is planning….

With Luann at Aunt Vicki’s, Quill will have an exciting Thanksgiving with Gunther & Mom Berger…

I was “on the scene” only about ten years or so after the event. But we had a book in our house, "The Death Of A President, by William Manchester. It was very detailed, from timelines, diagrams, first person accounts, itineraries from JFK, JK-O, and pictures and details from Parkland Hospital. Also accounted details from events afterward, including LHO, Jack Ruby, and also the multiple accounts from several angles from eyewitnesses, including statements from Governor and Mrs. Connaly, and the SS persons assigned. I always remember it. Also remember Dan Rather chronicling the events on a special. – Whenever I see a closed limousine with protected windows in procession, including the transport of the President and government officials, or anyone else, I think of the importance of them now, and think: “If only it were that kind, and not the kind that was travelling past Dealey Plaza at 12:29 PM” that day"…. or "If only it hadn’t travelled there that day, at all "….

Please do not refer to Luann and Brad’s mother as Nancy. The only Nancy I know has Sluggo as a boy friend. Refer to her as Mother Degroot.
