Responsible adults – Hmmmm. Maybe you need to start with Puddles, Brad. Did you plan on letting him outside, or just clean up his puddles – especially if he gets angry that you didn’t feed him?

So if Brad can’t remember to feed puddles when Toni isn’t there, what’s his chances of remembering when she’s around to distract him? Oh, Yeah – SHE will remember. Unless she is distracted too!

I wonder if Puddles is a watch dog…or if he just listens.

Brad has to be alone in his parents’ house to be a responsible adult? Can’t he be a responsible adult when he’s living in the rental house with TJ? Is he saying that Toni isn’t a responsible adult, in her apartment? If they aren’t already both responsible adults, then ought they really be planning on getting married?

Apparently, the three of them will need to combine their “rememberin’ powers” on this one… -I guess Brad forgot that Lassie is the only dog who can “speak” and remind people that they need to be fed… of course, Lassie is smart enough to speak, she should be smart enough to feed herself and also take care of the house….

Already they’ve learned the first lesson of a marraige. A husband will forget things and the wife will remind him

Why do I have this little voice in my head saying there might be something really, really wrong with Puddles (i.e. he’s more than just hungry)?

Hah. Only half the dog he used to be…

A dog will take any opportunity to get a second meal.

I think Puddles just ruined Brad chance of a Romantic Night…hmmm?

Let’s get priorities in order here. 1. Puddles: walks. 2. Puddles: meals. 3. Puddles: affection (petting, cooing, etc.). 4. house: cleaning and maintenance. 5. self: cleaning and maintenance (including eating, shopping). 6. self: rest. 7. if any time is left, hanky-panky.

Real priorities: 1:Christen every object in the house. 2:Christen it again just to make sure. 3:Christen everything they might’ve forgotten. 4:Find enjoyable ways to use food while christening things. 5:Sleep when necessary. 6:Take just enough care of Puddles so he does not interrupt christening of objects.

Lets all remember that Brad has his own place. He isn’t used to taking care of things at his parents house. Hope they left him a list. :)

Don’t they already live together, at least sometimes, at Brad’s (rented) house? Seems to me there was a story arc about TJ having to move out because of the relationship.

Yes, just as some dog owners train their pets to “play dead”, Nancy has trained Puddles to “play sick”. Brad and Toni will spend the whole week at the vet’s, rather than at the house. Well done, Mrs. DeGroot!

I admire the humbleness of these firefighters. They put themselves at risk for others, and then question their own sense of responsibility.

That IS only half a dog. LOL!

Puddles is way less trouble than that brat Shannon! If he’s hungry, he’ll whine a little. The kid would throw a hissy-fi-tantrum and start breaking dishes!! LOL

I don’t think we need to worry about Puddles. A pooch will ALWAYS whine if they even think they need to be fed. Or taken for a walk. Or petted. Or played with.

Aw. I guess that means you won’t be commenting on this board anymore…. we’ll miss you….

Puddles is sick and they are going to have to spend all Thanksgiving at the vet with him!

Puddles is whining! Now, Brad, this is your chance to show what a responsible adult you are by attending to this emergency in a mature fashion! You must respond to this crisis by grabbing a sledgehammer and knocking some holes in the walls.

Well, there’s responsibility and then there’s RESPONSIBILITY! Part of being responsible is to provide protection.

…into a Lassie-style adventure where they had to figure out Puddles was trying to show them that Shannon was lost in a well.^Exactly! Just what I was sayin’!…

You’ll note Toni’s sole comment in the middle panel. It doesn’t sound/look like she wants to resist practicing.

Doctors are very skilled at their professions…. but that doesn’t make them “rocket scientists” in any other capacity… from my experience in Medical Records, I’ve seen doctors struggle with what some may see as “basic office equiptment” (e.g., fax, copier, etc.)… this also applies to other facets of existence… there are plenty of people who are either skilled at a profession, or have come to learn skills in hobbies, or other areas, and still struggle in something else….

There are also college professors, and other professionals, who may be brilliant thinkers and able to teach, but still are “unorganized” in their home upkeep, or their handwriting is “illegible”, or have minds so filled with thought, that they have to write everything down, lest they forget even their shopping list. – Einstein had a different way of learning, that wasn’t as “organized” in the kind of way that others of the time felt was the correct way to “learn and think” … -The thing is, it’s human to be good at a lot of things, but maybe “stink” or not be as… “perfect” as we may present ourselves in other ways… that’s the beauty of “human beings being human”, and the beauty of seeing 2D characters’ personalities being developed.. we appreciate the “dents in their armor”, despite their other “triumphs” or what have you….

1) Brad is not impressing her with his responsibility.2) Brad is showing that he needs her help.

Yeah, it would be fun, but unlikely. I think the arc will just be Brad’s attempts to, uh, progress in his relationship with Toni, and one thing after another preventing it. If not the dog, then some appliance suddenly going nuts, or a power outlet shorting out and the fire alarm going off. The latter would bring out, guess what, the fire department….

I think most of you missed the “adult” part of “responsible adult.” Judging by her answer Toni didn’t miss it.

I think we all need to analyze this more closely— Toni’s coat appears to be a metaphor for young adult hormonal desires, which Brad is hanging in his “closet”. Puddles apear to be a metaphor for family duties, which Brad is neglecting. Toni’s “ooo” is a metaphor… go ahead, your turn.

Don’t panic, kids! Mom probably left a stash of makeup behind somewhere, you’ll find it!

Gosh, Brad, What Else have you forgotten? ;)

Silly me: Aren’t Brad and Toni already adults in the their mid-20s? They have dangerous jobs as firefighters, and are already engaged to be married, and presumably in an otherwise adult relationship with all that implies. Why are they acting like a couple of 16-year olds “playing house” while the parents are away?

Right! Not only that, but those times with Jonah and Dirk were circumstances she couldn’t control, relatively speaking,.. they were sort of “forced upon her”…. this time, she’s getting to house sit, and she probably feels good that whether it’s house siting, or being able to enjoy a relationship without someone dictating it to her, or something else, it’s her choice, this time…
