Frazz by Jef Mallett for November 27, 2013
Transcript:
Frazz: You seem more at peace about the two holidays sharing one vacation day. Boy: It seemed wrong to be ungrateful for Thanksgiving. Frazz: Or hanukkah. Boy: I'll save it for Christmas. Frazz: That's better? Boy: Apparently. The Family Circus alone deos the "is that all?" joke six times a decade.

Huh? The only thing I can think of is the kids on Xmas morning sitting amid a sea of gifts and complaining “Is that all?” But I’m still vague about the connection to T-Day.

I think that Lio has the right idea of what to do about that zombie comic strip. It involves nuclear bombs.

pshearer, I don’t get this one either….

I think it’s that the kid is saving his ungratefulness for Christmas, like the kids in Family Circus. But Jef has blown the punchline. It’s confusingly worded. “The Family Circus alone” makes no sense.

Some days the joke just seems to fall a little flat – but rarely. Of course, my sense of humor isn’t the baseline….

Yeah, and Dennis the Menace uses it regularly.

This kid has barely lived one decade. How would he know the rest unless he binged on the collections, which he apparently doesn’t like well enough to do?

Yes, as a matter of fact, many people do find it funny, namely the people who regularly read this strip because they LIKE it, not so they can tell us what they think is wrong with it and/or why it’s not funny. Other folks who read it, however, seem unable to comprehend that humor is subjective, and one person’s “annoying” is someone else’s “hilarious”. Neither one is"wrong".
