Yep, this is a typical life for an NFL player. Any of you wonder about the future of the game with all the health risks associated with it? I here participation in little league football is starting to drop.

The risks today stem, I believe, from the increased size, quickness, and speed of today’s players. It would be interesting to compare the average weight of a defensive line from 50 years ago to today’s players. I bet they average 50 pounds heavier and they can bust a 40 much faster than the guys from 50 years ago. All that size and speed means more force and energy when an impact occurs.

Plus, the muscle can be developed and strengthened – bones, not so much. Brain bounces around inside the skull just as easily in that modern hyperdeveloped player as in the guy from the 40s – and the modern gets hot a LOT harder.
