That’s not Luddy – he is plain coloured, not spotted/speckled like this one…

Indoor cats don’t really live longer, it just seems longer to them as they spend their days looking outside and wishing…………..

This is a cartoon? Wow, that explains a lot.

I don’t think a domestic cat (as opposed to a Lynx) could dig a den, hunt prey, eat the prey and overwinter in that den.

I don’t think this has much to do with a cartoon cat out in the snow! I see some in warmth and comfort and others out in the cold. Some with a full kettle and some with none. For whatever reason they’re on the outside, looking in. Tis the season to help those out in the cold, with nothing in their kettles.

just the two of them. no children, no parents, no siblings or friends to be bothered with. the cat their only concern. how ideal is that! they probably go bowling alone.

dtj621: you are so right, this has nothing to do with one cat in the snow but a symbol of all of those who are on the outside in the US and around the world at this time of year supposedly aimed at the message of giving help to the poor and to care for one another with generousity of heart and spirit.to look at those suffering in the cold of winter see the BBC stories on the refugees of Syriathis is a cartoon but one that often tries for a deeper meaning along with the rueful smiles

Is it just me, or has Jimmy Johnson been either off, or heavily on, his meds for the last couple of years.I read Arlo and Janis without understanding a single thing and I think of somebody who just gave up trying to make sense and started cartooning stream of consciousness style…

I think it’s partially you, Moshe. At least for this particular strip. I think the simple message is, there’s not much (represented here by the window) separating the “have’s” (represented here by A&J) and the “have not’s” (represented here by the stray cat out in the cold). Be mindful of that precarious state of grace when you’re one of the “have’s” and perhaps remember to be caring and thoughtful to the “have not’s” as well.

Having nearly lost my child to a speeding driver three days ago, this strip hits home. Thank you for the reminder to treasure what’s good in our lives.

That is a stray, homeless cat outside their window. Inside is warm and well fed – FAT. Outside is cold and hungry – LEAN.

Where I live we are fighting the Battle of Trap, Neuter, and Release. The TNR folks claim that feral cats do just fine on their own. I don’t know, but I do know that they are going to make a very good pray base for the coyotes.

So, I am not sure if the cat in the snow is bad off or not.

There’s like two on here that have a clue about what Jimmy is saying. Good job Al and dtj621! And Jimmy J. Wow! Just wow Dude. Made me smile and think. Sometimes you nail it, and this is one of those examples. Insight, awareness, truth. Thanks for sharing that with us. We’re living in the land of the have’s and the have-not’s folks. Million dollar homes and folks living under the bridge less than half a mile away. And more of them everyday in our throw-away society. The majority out here live that fine line. A major illness or job loss could throw many over to the lean side of that window. Give thanks for what you have and do something nice for someone you don’t know this holiday season. And Curtis, Dude, cartoons are not necessarily funny. Get with the program.

Be glad at what you have You should not give up every comfort if any have lessSome can be helpedSome can not Some like their lives exactly as they’ve made themDo what seems right to youAnd if it makes you happy, dump guilt trips on others and blame them for all the problems there have been since life began
