It’s going to be 2014? I just finally trained myself not to put “2012” on my checks.

I guess the message here is that the typical “Basic Instructions” reader/commenter is much less intelligent than the typical houseplant.

I’ll keep a keen eye out for 2014.

Scott Scott Scott. If you create the strip in 2013, it SHOULD be copyright 2013. Not the same as the publishing date.

I thought copyright referred to when something is published, released or posted, not to when it was created. It’s a marketplace thing, not an artistic one. Book and movies that will be released in January of 2014 will have a copyright for 2014, even though they were obviously made in the previous year.

All right! It’s the annual Basic Instructions PSA on the delayed copyright date change! It seems like only last month we were getting the 2012/2013 message. How time flies.
