It is, here in California at least. Maybe weâll get some rain next month. Meanwhile, the East is getting more than itâs fair share of freeze. Itâs Global Weirding: The weather is even more unpredictable than usual.
It depends on the week for us. One week itâs the arctic freeze with a foot of snow, the next itâs green grass and beach weather. Just alternate those two on a weekly basis, and youâll have New York this year.
The scientific gurus have officially declared a âglobal warming pause.â When the facts donât fit their predetermined stories, they have to invent addendums to make the facts fit. In the 70âs we were preparing for the impending âsecond ice age.â Man knows nothing, God knows it all and is in charge of it all.
Here in Central KS weather temps have been up and down like a roller coaster. Weâve had very little snow. Hope we do not head to another draught. Just got replenished on rain last year.
I spent a week in polar vortex Massachusetts (low of -2F) and then flew back to northern California, where winter does not appear to be happening this year. Last week it was warm enough for T-shirts outside (in the middle of January), which is weird for us â we will be paying very soon with a drought, unless we get some rain. FYI Global warming models have always predicted more weather extremes (not just always warmer days). From what Iâve been reading, the arctic temperatures in the midwest and east have been due to a weakening of the usual polar vortex, leading to a very wobbly jet stream, pulling down the cold air from the north (something like that anyway). This isnât inconsistent with global warming (and sounds like it might even be somewhat caused by it, although apparently this also happened in ~1985).
It is common knowledge that as the hemisphere warms the jet streams become more irratic and extreme. If Global Warming increases this tendency, and I am not saying it is, but if it is weather could become strange and possible kill the spring food supply.
Here in the Atlanta area, our summer was more like our normal winter. And this winter our Duluth has been more like the other one. Think my lemon tree died from the cold.

Could it be because of all the polar ice melting into the Gulf Stream?

Iâve been enjoying days in the low-to-mid 70s here in Arizona, and actually, that is a bit warm for this time of year.
