BRING OUR TROOPS HOME, and let that pimp Karzai fight the Taliban himself.

If we’re doing a week on Afghanistan, I’m sure glad it’s with Mel instead of Jeff/Sorkh.

Iraq and Afghanistan was a waste of life and wealth start to finish. If the people of the middle east want to live in the dark ages we should let them. Thanks to fracking we don’t even need the oil.

@Q4horseI s’pose if I was a fat cat I would call Iraq and A-stan investments in making me and my buddies wealthier. Your comment about other people in other less developed countries mirrors what David M. Shoup, former Commandant of Marines and MOH recipient, said after his retirement. He also was a supporter of Vietnam Veterans Against the War. Please google him.

Thanks to fracking your kitchen/bathroom sink may explode in fire. And nearby farm animals may begin to have birth defects. There are issues with fracking.

Add Pakistan to that ignore list — they kill doctors who try to vaccinate kids against polio. Anti-frackers have the IQs of climate change deniers and antiGMO loonies. Just sayin’

I recall a cartoon in the annual Dolphin Calendar (submarine service charity calendar) showing a woman on the phone with a Navy wife, moaning that her husband has been gone on his business trip almost a whole week already, and won’t be back until Sunday. Meanwhile the Navy wife is looking at her countdown calendar, marked off with four months to go until her husband is back from deployment.

Standard con false choice. “My way or a worse way.”No, I choose neither. And I doubt if you or any of yours fought in those wars, either. But you’re happy to consume the oil, wherever it comes from.

“Do you suppose the Republicans in Congress read this strip regularly?”My elderly podiatrist (elderly-er than me, even!) and I were in a congenial “remember when?” discussion when the subject of “Doonesbury” somehow came up. He remarked that “Doonesbury” should be on the editorial pages, and that it wasn’t funny anyway. I said that I thought it was hilarious, and one of my favorite comics. Time to change the subject. I suspect that most of the Republicans in Congress feel the same way about it as he does.

Afghanistan, like Iraq, like Vietnam, will end with the US pulling out and the country collapsing in flames, followed by the rise of the new regime. I said this in 2002. I stand by it.

“stop whining and use facts for a change”? They’d all have to renounce their republican party memberships. And if he was halfway literate, he’d know Obama’s stepfather was Soetoro, not “Soretoes”. That’s probably the only way he can remember it.

I have a frakking question! (I just love saying frakking) How long will that frakking oil last? Are the cons going to start crying ANWAR and invade the middle east when it runs out?

I am very thankful that someone is there to do the country’s war wet work. I may not agree with most of it, but the soldiers are a necessary evil and I feel much safer because of them. I am glad it is over there, and that they are doing the best to keep it that way.

If there are birth defects in farm animals as a result of fracking, as has been documented, who is to say there won’t be an increased number of birth defects in humans? Is this also acceptable? I don’t think those who are dealing with explosive tap water and farm animals with birth defects consider it to an insignificant problem…walk a mile in their shoes before you judge.

Yep..I refuse to condemn measures taken to find and kill Osama ere he killed even more Americans — his stated goal — and those who did not faithfully follow his particular form of Islam..Further, I refuse to condemn the acts of war committed against those who knowingly harbored him..I condemn those who ratted on the ones who helped hunt him down, not that their ilk care..I condemn all who kill medical workers to punish them for the actions of other medical workers — ever if those others HAD been wrong..I condemn a thought system which begets such people, whether they call themselves Christians, Muslims, Capitalists, Socialists or Smurffs..I condemn those who defend them.

Actually, nuclear DOES provide power for pennies.Just more pennies than first thought as produced currently..Not using nuclear also has its expenses: greenhouse emissions, coal mine deaths, oil spills, air pollution, support of terrorists. (See above), deforestation, species extinction, people freezing for lack of power, lung disease, birth defects (supposedly), . . ..The balance sheet has two sides.
