Nice! At least your big boss listened to you. My “big boss lady” took the manager’s side, even as she admitted the manager was wrong. I walked away from that job a year later for wanting me to teach an upcoming manager for a position they said I wasn’t good enough to promote to. Wasn’t going to take that burn anymore.

This is the first time I haven’ t liked one of Wiley’s bears…..

My 30 year old nephew who inherited a building company recently told me that he was angry with the welfare state. He explained that he couldn’t keep people on the job. They would work long enough to qualify to go back on unemployment , stay there until it ran out then come back to work. This kid was standing in his 3/4 million dollar house telling me that he paid his employees so little that they were better off on welfare, and he thought that THEY should be ashamed of themselves. And, he was serious!!!!

DLee, sounds like he was paying them less tan $400 a month. Nobody gets more than on unemployment .. Not much to live on there, if you count rent/mortgage, food, car, etc. I seriously doubt anyone would rather make that little, when he/she could earn all of $3,400 at minimum wage, which only about $7.50 and hour….

Varnes I have no idea if it’s true or not. I just know that is what my nephew told me. Of course he is a Republican, and what is true inside the bubble may not have any relevance to reality.

Makes you wonder what kind of organization that bear’s running.

Some people think that private industry is more efficient than public occupations… But they both have the same problem: Management. I worked at large convention center as a banquet manager…We were down to about 1500 coffee cups, but in two weeks they had scheduled several very large banquets. We were going to need triple that. We wanted to buy a bunch of new cups, but management said there wasn’t any money in the budget for that. They decided to rent every coffee cup in a 50 mile radius..Because there was “emergency money available.”….so we used that to rent every cup in a 50 mile radius……all of them. Our cups had cost about $1.50 When baught in bulk… When we broke the rentals, we were charged $4.60 per cup, in addition to what we had rented them for….I’m sure that over the 3 month period we rented and broke them, we spent more than 4-5 times what it would have cost us, if we just bought a bunch….Management wanted to look good by keeping to the budget, but because they did, it cost them 4 times as much….Private industry plays games with numbers….
