It’s been noted by Gilfanatics that Milford is stuck in a time warp like Pleasantville. I can hear the 1960’s elevator music in the school cafeteria. Wendy should lead a flash mob doing The Rocky Horror Time Warp Dance.
This strip has gotten so lame and non-original I don’t know if I can keep reading it. Don’t know if Harry Caray was the first to use this kind of line, but he would say things like “here’s a young left-hander, 18 years-old and in five years he’s got a chance to be 23. Haw, haw, haw!”The sports angle on Gil used to be interesting. Now…
I believe original line was Casey Stengel’s when he was first manager of expansion Mets: “The kid’s 20 and in 10 years he has a chance to be 30.” Can’t remember whether he was talking about Ed Kranepool, Greg Goosen, or whomever. I was 10 and now have a chance to be 60. Whistlin’ Joey Webb forever!
Harry—“9-1 Cards in the 5th. Casey Stengel over in the Mets dugout must be beside himself. I don’t see anyone else next to him…. Speaking of fifths, I’ll bet Casey could go for a drink right now. How about an ice cold Bud?…. Hey-y-y!…Ya kno-o-o-w, Stengel spelled backwards is Leg Nets. Haw, haw, haw!2-2 to McCarver…Pa-a-ah-h-p-p-d it up."
Can somebody please correct the paragraph underneath "About Gil Thorp?’ Neal Rubin and Rod Whigham had as much to do with creating the strip was they did creating CALVIN AND HOBBES. Jack Berrill created the strip! This is a slap in face to Berrill’s family!

Oh, yah. Now I can totally see why Jack said Wendy’s “smart and funny”.

Become a coach instead, Wendy. In 50 years, you’ll have a good chance of being 35.

That’s quite a trick in P2. I don’t know anyone who can talk while sipping through a straw.

For some reason, I keep thinking Wendy would look great if she did a dance in pizza boxes.

Today’s strip is brought to you by Gillette – an amazing job of mustache shaving by Wendy between P2 and P3!
