Their dinner hour creeps earlier and earlier, as they get older…
With some seniors, it’s due to restless sleep that gets them out of bed by dawn…. lunch by 11 means dinner at 5, and bed at 8….
But not the Pennys….They simply have no impulse control, so as soon as they feel slightly hungry, they eat.
By the time they were having dinner at 4, they saw a benefit. It gave them time for desert plus 2 or 3 snacks before waddling off to bed. Now there’s no turning back.
BTW .. this is a rerun. Universal has slapped their imprint over the bottom edge … but think that’s dinner.
Could be one of the several snacks between lunch and pre-dinner appetisers.
Reminds me of a certain “Seinfeld” episode in FL. Watch out for the Early Birds! (Although I must admit that failing digestive processes do encourage an earlier dinner time these days.)
The Pennys eat all day how do they know when the actual dinner time comes up? It’s always nice to see Patty though. It would be funny if Burl missed the million dollar call. They can catch it on the news while they scoff down dessert.
my husband and I eat an early dinner but then we usually don’t have a lunch, just maybe snack if we get hungry. My husband goes to sleep at 8 every night but in his defense, he gets up at 4 every morning and walks 4 miles.
They ought to get rid of that “Officer Dibble’s official police phone” from the old Top Cat cartoon series and get something with caller i.d. Then Burl could be spared one impulse to say for Pete’s sake per call……….The gained time could be well spent sticking another fattening goodie into his mouth.
It seems to me that there have been instances where Joy and Burl have looked forward to and encouraged telephone solicitors, so I am a bit shocked at Joy’s turn-around to a more normal stance.
I agree with those of you who eat early (I don’t like to waste time preparing and eating more than 2 meals a day (breakfast and supper) and it IS healthier not to have a full meal less than 2-3 hours before sleep. I like to rise at dawn and retire around 9PM. The only time I eat later is if I go out to a restaurant with family or whatever.
I have no idea what I’ll do when we do some camping for various events, but I’m looking forward to something new. Many of my SCA friends camp for all weekend events, so we plan to try it, since he already has the equipment.
Oh goodness, the Pennys only eat one meal a day — all day! They’re feeding from the time they slump out of bed until the time they plop their ponderous bulks back in the sack. Four o’clock, indeed! ANY time would be feeding time at their house!

Susan, is that why the table is set at 9 AM?

I thought 4 p.m. was Tea Time, although that was when Dinner was at 8 or 9.
