We had stairsteps, 3 kids in less than three years. I was a stay at home mom and loved it, but it was hectic. I remember feeling this way when my mom came for a long weekend when they were toddlers, and we went away for three nights. I just wanted to sit there and soak up the peace and quiet, and nobody following me into the bathroom. LOL It was before cell phones, so no phone calls too (back then long distance was just that, and expensive, so mom would have only called if someone was dying). They are all grown and the grandbabies are coming now…and part of me still misses those hectic, wonderful years :-)
Back in the 70s, I lived with an Afghan family in a suburb of Kabul. They had no running water or mirror. On the plane ride home I used the bathroom and looked in the mirror and like Elly, I saId, “Hello Stranger.”
She is not too gleeful at all. I absolutely adore my husband and cats, but at the same time relish the occasional business trip where I sleep soundly in a quiet room and get to kick back a little with a glass of wine and the joy of just being by myself. Go, Elly, GO!!!!!!
It’s not sad, it’s normal. Summerdog, it’s the same as when you go on vacation – no responsibilities, enjoying quiet time, etc. You do go on vacations, don’t you??
I agree with those who say never touch the bedspread etc (I remove any such and pile in a corner in normal hotels.I have, however stayed at some in business travel which were full suites with custom linens all regularly changed, their own furnace and dishes, even a fireplace (which I don’t like at home).
