This strip actually captures a key component in any good friendship: parity. We often see among girls a social or fashion leader have hangers-on who think they’re friends but are actually just a court to a queen. Marigold, being a Creature of Wonder, could easily reduce Phoebe, a mere Human, to Constant Singer of Marigold’s Praises. But she doesn’t. She enjoys her human friend for who she is and generously shares her gifts with her. A good lesson in any relationship.

“Sing like no-one is listening.” Or, more importantly these days, like no-one is recording you with their cell phone!
