He did answer directly. Confessing to be ignorant is not a sin.

+1 for Pharmakeus. In fact, Alro is more right than Janis is. Janis makes assumptions, which, while understandable, are wrong. Arlo acknowledges that he has insufficient information.

What if Gus gets three million for the place? Who needs a job when you can live off that?

Janis is mad right now, so she has to take it out on someone and Gus is that someone..Gus can do what he thinks. Janis knows Gus is a good man.Plus, maybe Gus got an offer he couldn’t refuse.

Alternative universe:J: Don’t you think Gus is being hasty about selling?A: Not necessarily. It only looks that way from here because we just found outJ: Don’t you think he should have consulted the kids?A: Knowing Gus like we do, I’m sure he did.J: Don’t you think he’s being unfair?A: No. After all, it’s his restaurant.

I understand her concern, but she is driving herself into a tizzy without calling Gus up & talking to him personally! That is not logical.

Our greatest angst is about other peoples business…If we don’t know the details then no comment should be enough..

Janis is just worrying out loud and Arlo is reacting the same way my husband does. Drives me nuts!

We who are cursed with the Y chromosome, when faced with a problem, either kill it, solve it or give it a good fight. The XX chromosome-blessed, will talk the problem to it’s agonizing death and beyond into a dry, waterless afterlife.AND will be brought up in/at the most inappropriate conversations for the rest of the century, her lifetime, or whichever comes last. Consult her diary for confirmation.

Perhaps the A & J duo buying the place is still in the offering…. it seems still like it is a potential outcome.

Part of the problem here is Gene may not know what Gus is planning. We don’t. Mary Lou may. Anyhow, all Gene told Janus is, “Gus is selling the restaurant.” That may be all he knows. In any case, parents expect to know every detail of their adult children’s life and the adult children refuse to tell their parents every detail. As a result, parents tend to get up set since they don’t know what they think they are entitled to know.

Wow, Janis is such a busybody. None of this is any of her business. Gene, Mary Lou and Gus are all adults and capable of making their own decisions.

Doctor Toon. I don’t remember hearing that saying since I was a kid, a loooong time ago, but I love it. “You tell me and we’ll both know.” A perfect answer for a sibling; questionable for a spouse.
