Feh. Money on knowledge is not wasted. For my on-line students, Wikipedia is NEITHER a primary nor secondary source, merely a guideline for further research. Kindle is, however, a good primary source. But there is something about a handful of bound paper, especially with that ‘old bookstore store smell’ that takes one back to wayback days (summers in hammock underneath shady trees, escaping to the South Pacific or WW2 Paris or Colonial America…) But I digress. Carry on.

Let’s see now. The policeman and the nurse both bring home paychecks, but he’s ordering her not to buy a few books to enrich their children?

There is nothing to compare to cracking open a new book – even if it’s from the library. An electronic book is nice, but don’t drop it, get sand on it, or put it down for ten seconds or it will “walk off”. When the apocalypse comes, Kindles will be useless, but you’ll still be able to read a book.

It’s ok to buy books to enrich the kids, if you can afford it, but you should be able to get into the house.
