Didnât JK Rowling admit a few days ago that maybe she should have just gave in to the shippers and granted them their Hermione/Harry fantasies?
Therefore, Roy got PWNED!
Jay still thinks he still has a shot with Miss Fanservice? We know he will take whatever abuse Mistress Rita and God Mode Sue and the hypnotist and the Gorgon and whatever other female is so repulsed by his utter betatude they must punish him for it and he will love it!
So thatâs why no oneâs put a collar on him. Forever aloneâŠ
Sorry but once Ginny decided on Harry, THAT was the proverbial IT!
He rescued her as a child, was her adored Big-Brotherâs Best Friend, there waas simply NO WAY that sheâd ever let Harry off the Hook. Sheâd found her hero.
Ron and Hermioneâs Bickersonâs routine was how they showed their attraction for each other as far back as the Hogwartâs Express when they were First Yearâs. They each had strengths that Harry needed, and as they focused on him as the âHeroâ of their little group (He WAS âThe Boy Who Livedâ after all so there HAD to be SOMETHING there) they came to realize that thay ALSO complimented EACH OTHERâs Strengths and Weaknesses.
Rowling only wrote them. Yes, that gives her some insight. But they LIVE, on and off the page, due to themselves,
Sorry, but until youâve actually had people living âother livesâ inside your head you really canât understand how Characters can come alive beyond what their creator had planned for them.
Vaguely remember a dream I had once where Mrs. Weasley used polyjuice potion to fill in for Ginny on a date with Harry when Ginny was sick. Didnât want to think about what that mightâve been like.
I agree with Leo Autodidact that the Harry/Hermione coupling would not have worked without rewriting from the beginning. Once you had that trio, it was going to wither be Ron and Hermione or none of them together. Or else Ron wouldâve gotten killed. And thinking that Harry is so much brighter than Ron doesnât really make sense ether. They had similar marks, both probably below their potential but neither truly an intellectual match for Hermione. Granted, weâre talking about fictional characters, but there has to be a certain flow in storytelling, and to me, a Harry/Hermione union would have felt awfully forced.
Sometimes people in books feel a lot more real than strangers a continent away â but then again, what do I know, I will disappear when the Red King wakes up
Hereâs a thought: why was it inevitable that Hermione end up with Ron or Harry? How about her ending up with neither and finding a nice young man at a different school or â shocker â from the muggle world she came from?
A Harry/Hermione pairing would have been more natural. It would have totally destroyed the books, though, and Iâm not sure there would have been any story to write. Boy meets girl, boy gets girl, zzzzzzzzz.
Itâs pronounced âher-my-oh-kneeâ. Remember, she told Viktor how to pronounce it.
I learned that a long time ago because I was fascinated by the musical GiGi and the songs in it, including âI Remember It Wellâ, sung by Maurice Chevalier and Hermione Gingold. It was such an unusual name, that I went to thelibrary to find out when my parents didnât know. The librarian thought I was asking about Hermione Baddley, the thin servant in Mary Poppins!
Also interesting is that I saw the name Hermione the Grange used for a cat working as a wizardâs familiar in reoccuring short stories. They were in the short story collections âCatfantasticâ, which predate the Harry Potter series. I canât remember the authorâs name.
At the time I thought maybe Rowling had read one of these stories and liked the name, since her characterâs last name was Granger. Maybe they both came from ShakespeareâŠ

It can be QUITE disconcerting, trust me!

Hagrid pronounces it that way. Before the first movie came out, some readers were guessing âHER-mee-oneâ

Why did she have to end up with anyone at all?

Still waiting for Kathy to tell Roy theyâre having twins. Gee, I wonder what they could name them?
