Have the machines regained their identity? I would think since they still have brains, they have sentience, and may develop enough personaiity or ego to rise up against their Saran® wrapped overlords. I thought TopSiders would routinely mindwipe them, but maybe not. Maybe the machines got smart enough to start making their own cohorts, and suppressed the TopSiders enough that they know they have lost their servants, and the machines may have decided to take over the world. Or maybe i’ll go to sleep now.Curiously,

Well, he is the first Transporter we’ve met that has given a name rather than a serial number…

Has there ever been a reason given for why Level_Head was suspended from GoComics? I have to admit I don’t get into poetry that people post on this or other threads (there’s a guy who cuts loose with a little “versiage” on Dick Tracy every so often), but I’m not offended by it and see nothing wrong.

This actually suggests other changes that have been going on since the “Countdown” arc. Petey vehemently denied that he was “a head in a box” and he had to work to convince his former love that it was one too. Now here we have Clive not only accepting this but mocking Holly for assuming that he’d be shocked by the truth. It may just be Clive, but it seems like there has been a change in Transporter culture. The question is why?

I do not know why Level_Head was suspended, only that his account looks exactly like DRY and a few others did when they were suspended, and he would post, and not understand why people could not see his post. Level_Head was not notified of the suspension, unless it went to his spam blocker.I have received a form email response notifying me the moderator cannot be contacted through the “contact us” link. Notice Holly calls Clive a “TopSider transporter”, but Clive refers to himself simply as a transporter. There might also a bit of the nihilism to his bit about dying and rebirth. I’ma gonna read a little Joseph Campbell, he referred to dying to the old life and being reborn a,new, full-fledged member of society, if they survived their ordeal or trial. Clive sounds more like the topsiders have fine-tuned their wipe and recondition program. They can now(?) make a personality that accepts the situation, making it more reliable and (presumably) loyal. I’d WAG that the TS couple will have to get away from Clive if they want to transform, least he attempts something/alerts the authorities. Or he has an independent streak in him, though I doubt it and he might just play along and feed intel back to his masters.

Steve Gallacci,While it is likely that Clive’s ability to accept being “a head in a box” is part of a new mind-wipe program I suspect that he is more independent than you suggest. If he were loyal to his “masters” he would have either slammed the door on Jim and Sarah (who were not his drivers and were wearing nonstandard biosuits) or have stayed parked when the drones came. It seems clear to me that the drones were called out same colony that Clive and his drivers originated from, thus it is clear that Clive’s “masters” wanted Jim and Sarah dead. Instead Clive made it very clear that while he didn’t give a dang about Sarah’s orders, he didn’t want to die and did what he needed to escapeThat said, Clive owes no loyalty to either Jim and Sarah or the two mutants they dragged along. If the Topsiders contact him and offer to allow him to return to the colony without repercussions, he just might accept their offer. Time and Aaron will tell.

Has anyone had direct contact with Level Head? Just in case he has had health issues, or something similar.

Yes, I did before I launched this campaign.I understand the questioning, because obscene never seen anything harmful or hateful or overtly offensive or poltical in his posts. I asked several times before contacting him, and just figured it was work or illness or helping out Wolf and Jenner at Doc Rat.So I dug through the archives, found an old post, and clicked to get to his profile and it was empty, consistent with suspended account. I then contacted him and learned he had been posting, and didn’t understand some of the posters whose posts indicated they weren’t seeing his posts. Upon receiving confirmation from Level_Head he had been posting, but never received a suspension notice. If one were sent, it may have been blocked as spam. I am never notified when some of my posts disappeared.Level_Head has said in a PM he was posting. Understandably, JusSayin

Sounds to me like Clive is a cyborg that has come to terms with his/her existence and expresses frustration or anger through sarcasm…

But are they extinct or absorbed? That is one of questions being raised by the genetic research being done. One thing about evolution is that it rewards flexibility. I personally think Neanderthals and all the rest are still in us. Just not the parts unneeded. The best bits from all were kept so the species Homo Sapiens could survive. I have been compared to Neanderthal in a good way. I am heavy boned, thick skinned, cold adaptable, not tall but strongly built. I am not fleet of foot but can stand my ground against a large mammal. Those are good traits. So I don’t believe they are gone…..just taken in the gene pool with the unnecessary parts dropped and the good ones continuing.That would be environmental survival pressures. While the male would be resistive to change the female is incredibly adaptive. The drive to produce off spring carrying on the genetic line is very strong and more so in the female who can also be selective about choices favoring one over another.It takes tremendous resources to create children to carry on and only the ones who can get the resources on a regular basis will survive in the long run.That is when reduced to just every day survival in wilderness environment not so much today in this world and environment.Just food for thought.

to Darwinskeeper, you might be right, regarding Clive’s behavior, at least his notion of self-preservation but at the same time TSers can be subtle and sneaky, remember the gun and the whole Flask fiasco. While he might be a free agent, I wouldn’t trust him. He could have mission options, including playing along with dissidents and mutants for their intel value. Arron has his wheels within wheels, so we’ll have to just sit back and go for the ride.

Level_Head’s account has been restored, or the glitch in his account has been resolved. Notice last Thursday where BBWolf128 asked for the links, but now Level_Head’s post has magically appeared. I had heard Level_Head was overloaded with work, and helping Doc Rat’s webmaster Wolf and Jenner through some trying times on the reboot of Jenner’s website, and Wolf’s poor health. I might add as a person with no vested interest save for the enjoyment of Jenner’s work, that Level_Head has been doing a spectacular job for Doc Rat . There are some gaps in Level_Head’s daily contributions we had all gotten so accustomed to enjoying,(or skipping) probably due to his heavy workload.

But Level_Head said he was going to contact gocomiccs himself, so it is possible it was just a glitch they were able to resolve. I do want to thank everyone who noticed his absence and took up keypad to rise up in his defense. Level_Head is a treasure to both Endtown and Doc Rat, and perhaps we can take this opportunity to give bouquets to people while they can appreciate them. Hmmm. So the Transporter likes being a tool of its overlords. That’s what I like about this strip, it’s just like real life.

I’ve been wondering (bad habit, that)…have all the Transporters been male? Petey was, Clive seems to be…I’m not sure about the one who became “the brain in the cooler.”
