Darn right. An internet troll is just a guy with web access and still has enough fingers to type with. I always assume that the ones who spell especially poorly are the one who are typing with only nubs left after repeated accidents with sharp objects or large machinery.

a little off-topic: every time I see the old guy, he always reminds me of someone, but I could never figure out who it was. Today, it finally came to me: the late actor, Charles Durning.

Awesome. I am now going to keep a photo of him stuck to the edge of my drawing board. Cool!

There’s a future for this guy at Fox!

That was how the system worked until the Republicans noticed that if they used the same information that everyone else was using, they couldn’t get to the conclusions that they wanted to reach, at least not using any recognizable form of logic. So they invented “think tanks”- organizations with honorable integrity filled sounding names like “Americans for Freedom” or “Heritage Foundation”. These organizations would then produce data that could be used to win any argument necessary. The fact that the data had no validity in the real world wasn’t considered to be relevant to the situation.

So true. You should see some of those who come on the science boards to claim that scientists know nothing.

“two of you have just drawn different conclusions from the same data”, that is assuming that both concluders are honest and not deceiving themselves. I often see different conclusions by adding consequences over decades of time. For example, saving 5% of your income or spending it, consequence; good time now or a secure retirement. Moderation or weekend binge drinking, consequence; alcohol related health issues. A current case in point, Colorado legalizing pot. Short term, fewer dopers in jail, “freedom”, and more state tax money. My personal experience long term is none of the potheads from my youth are alive. Reaching old age while still active, alert, and in good health is no accident. I think old folks (unless you’re Keith Richards) have taken the long view of things, have not deceived themselves, and can spot the old lies with new names.

I’m not sure what a troll is, I don’t live under a bridge, but whatever. The Fox people are the ones who refer to the rest of the media as the “Lame Stream News” and claim to be the only ones who are “fair and balanced.” On the local news and the other cable news, you get the same information, consistently from one channel to the next. And, the reporter gives you backup— you know where they got the information and can evaluate it based on that backup. On Fox you have big eyed blonds telling you “people are saying—-”, when they are actually only repeating what was been stated with no basis in fact on talk radio.
