And, while the naysayers are all lining up to make comments to the effect that Nina shouldn’t have resorted to violence, or she’s going to get arrested for assault (if we can get that cop away from Walt’s house!), or she was wrong because the tickets WERE counterfeit, who didn’t think that guy actually had it coming after all this time?!
Actually, I disagree with the outcome of this strip. Frank Nelson should have prevailed. Skeezix should have gotten to go home and see his game..It’s already been made clear that, unlike Nina says, Skeezix will not enjoy the show..Having spent some time in the deep south, I remember a saying: When Nina said, “Let’s enjoy the show,” Skeezix would say, “What? You got a mouse in your pocket?”.(The implication is, how can you say “we” or “us” since you clearly don’t include “me” or “I”!)
In my opinion, this has become one of the weakest storylines since Dog-Zilla. I agree fully with JanCinLV that a crime has taken place, but it was not the fault of the theatre or the Frank Nelson-like character. And again, what about when she finds people sitting in the seats she thought she’d bought? Is she gonna whip their butts, too? Come on now..As for all the Slim-bashers out there, again, come on now. Most of the time, he is my favorite character in this strip. It just happens that, with a mega-dose of prejudice against fat people, he is the butt of too many jokes in this strip..I honestly don’t know how he puts up with his wife..But then, I don’t know how Skeezix puts up with Nora, either.
You have a point. Television is over-saturated with sports. For this alone, I do not side with Skeezix. It is his weakest argument..What bothers me is how determined Nina is to drag him to this show, in spite of his protests and, as we find out later, the fact that the tickets aren’t even valid!.Nina’s treatment of both Skeezix and the Frank Nelson character appear to me as classic “bullying.”.Which is why I object.

WTG Nina. LOL!! He’s been needing a dressing down for a long time. Leave it to the woman to give him what was coming to him.

I repeat my comment from yesterday, it is very very sad to see Scancarelli reduce the Wallets to abusive Thieves.

And heck. In the first panel, Nina doesn’t even look happy! In fact, she looks downright mean!
