They only have 2 children, and only one of them can have friends over at a time? I have 6 siblings, we didn’t have a HUGE house, and we often had friends over at the same time. My mother had no problem. As a matter of fact, most of our friends called my mother “Mom”.
Michael was not told to stay out of the house.. He was told his friend couldn’t come in until Lizzy’s friends left. It wasn’t until I had kids that I understood when mom would not allow ANY friends in the house. Yes we had to play out side..Unless it was raining and the others went home. Weekends when jobs were finished we could have friends over, we still stayed out side..
Didn’t get to bring my friends in either. Only other child allowed into our house was my cousin when she spent the night. But she slept in my parents bedroom with my mother although we were 7(me) and 8(her).
I lived in Canada (still do) and I was NEVER allowed to have friends in the house. In later years, when my daughter was young and my mother lived with me, it used to drive her nuts that I allowed my daughter to have friends over, sleepovers, guests for dinner…
Sometimes if the age difference is too much, it’s better to separate the kids. Or maybe the different genders plays a part. I have only daughters and they are fairly close in age, so when friends are over, they all (mostly) play nicely with each other. Sometimes though, the older one gangs up on the younger one (even though she is a sweet girl at heart), so that’s when I separate them.
But the “kids” strips are often taken from Lynn’s childhood here in Vancouver where the climate is much more benign. (This week’s been around 13C/55F with sun and showers.)
From what we gather, Elly did not say “Michael and Lawrence, you punks are never allowed in!” It seemed like they were out enjoying themselves in the yard. Thougn with all the mess Lizzie and the boys are making, Lawrence and Michael will seem to have the manners of a French waiter by comparison!
