@dukedougWhen I was about 11 years old I was in the Chinatown are of NYC. This was before downtown became upscale. There was this young blonde woman in fatigues and a beret handing out some militant literature. I tried to ignore her but she looked at said,“it’s free, you don’t have to pay anything.”I don’t remember what that leaflet said but I still remember her.

I suspect the communes are coming back; too many need a place, and WAY too few places. Get along, folks!

Maybe pbarnrob should have said, ‘…too few ’affordable’ places." I live in a town with a very large university and the city council is about to pass an ordinance limiting the number of unrelated people who may live in the same house. This is going to force some students into even lousier housing which is all they can afford. Meanwhile areas around the campus appear to be getting overbuilt with luxury private dorms, condos and apartment buildings. Just curious who is going to fill them. Not the folks presently living six or eight in a two bedroom house.

Sure, why spend money to milk us? All we are is a profit center, and any expense cuts into that profit.Probably the landlords of the lousy properties mentioned by TT above lobbied to get the reduction in occupancy so they could fill their roach motels.

I just checked the archives to verify what I’d remembered – Bernie’s girlfriend Didi is only 7 years old. I think that’s a joke Trudeau would not have made today.

@Night-Gaunt49The first time I needed it was for a respiratory infection. Due to combination of morals, precaution, and good luck (some might say lack of luck), I didn’t need for other reasons.

When I was a kid, penicillin was given for everything. Probably one reason I never hear of it any longer, it has no efficacy.

Lots of folks are allergic to penicillin and there are alternatives.

A mini skirt + boots = classic. I still see this look today. I think Malia and Sasha were sporting that look not long ago.

@kauri44There were many jokes that GT made back then that he wouldn’t make now. There were jokes about how ugly some of the girls Mike dated were.Maybe we have become more sensitive or our tastes have improved.
