Homer the Reluctant Soul - Epilogue Homer: *sigh* Bert: Regrets, Homer? Homer: Well... Duncan: I know, dude...I liked her, too. Bert: Well, then...congratulations! Homer: Um...for what? Duncan: ? Bert: You've found the quest for the rest of your lives! Homer: Quest? For what? Duncan: Duh... Bert: Oh, let's just say, where there's life, there's hope...and vice-versa. Homer: ? ! Ahh...hope! Ok...send me back down, Bert! Bert: To when? Homer: To whenever she's going to be! Bert: Ok, if you say so... Now that I know my quest... ...How hard can it be? Woman: Oh, no, not now!

Um, well, this is his chance to get to know her wellâŠ.Kinda awkwardâŠ.
Bilan almost 11 years ago
Sure, you should love your mother, but thatâs not what he had in mind.
Varnes almost 11 years ago

Heâs his own father? This is getting awful Freudian.
Ida No almost 11 years ago
We got the when and the why. A shame about the where, how and who. Maybe someone should ask about the what?

Ooooh, look! Heaven has a sense of humor!
wrwallaceii almost 11 years ago
Didnât Robert Heinlein write a short story with a similar Plot device? I think it was titled; âAll You Zombiesâ-â

Take it easy folks, this is just the start of the target lifetime. Heâll catch up with Speranza in due time..One thing I wonder about, though. Seems to me the first life we ever saw Homer in, he was an Eskimo (his name came from the town of Homer, Alaska). Has the Reluctant Soul saga come full circle?

Seriously

If no one dare say it, then I will:The first thing guys want to get INTO, is the first thing he gets OUT ofâŠâŠ.

Meh. Maybe Iâm too saccharine, but I was hoping for a happier ending in Rome. (The DOG dies??)
puddlesplatt almost 11 years ago

Dogsniff, thanks, buddyâŠYou made me do a spit take with my coffeeâŠ.Now I have a really good reason to buy a new laptopâŠ.

It seems a lot of you are leaping to the conclusion that the woman about to give birth is Hope.
YatInExile almost 11 years ago
Thatâs just wrong. On a couple of levels.
Melekalikimaka almost 11 years ago
hmmm, I guess words, DO matter.
westny77 almost 11 years ago
You are starting from square 1.Heaven looked so nice. So now we know how they died and went to heaven.
dabugger almost 11 years ago
mythsâŠ.?
JohnnyBlackhart almost 11 years ago
Ahhhhhhhh0 but do we know that its her yet ? I was hoping that the dog would chew the ropes and that there would be a happier more direct ending .

If youâve ever seen Noises Off, itâs a bit like an acting troupe coming to town and putting on a play, and sometimes the actors get to switch roles. Then on to the next town, switch again, depending on what theyâre learning. If you recognize someone you just met, thatâs likely it.
Miba almost 11 years ago
I donât get it. Is his life starting over? Is she his mother? Are they going to be born together as twins?
racerxyz almost 11 years ago
Ah, someone who may have a truer perspectiveâŠâŠOn this note, I doubt if he will have to do anything but go where he is ledâŠ..More useful perspective adjustments :-)
racerxyz almost 11 years ago
Thank you, Wiley, I needed this kind of a booster todayâŠ.:-)Itâs more peaceful to believe that all I have to do is keep showing upâŠ..
midas welby almost 11 years ago
@Wiley, I suspect that you have read Heinleinâs âJobâ! FWIW, I prefer St. Bert to Loki :-).

Taboo!
pcolli almost 11 years ago
Thatâs the thing about storiesâŠ.. the ending is often open to interpretation so that we can draw conclusions that are relevant to our own lives.
Varnes almost 11 years ago
Yup, I did it tooâŠJumped to a conclusionâŠ.Wiley was named wellâŠ.sort of a foreshadowing I guessâŠ(I know his name is spelled differently than wily, but phonetics and letters donât always blend as well as one would hope)âŠ

JP Steve Premium Member almost 11 years ago
And note that Bert says âa quest for the rest of your livesâ plural. No quickie wrapup here!
Ida No almost 11 years ago
Another reason why the mother isnât Hope â Homer has to locate Duncan first before the two of them can start their search for Hope. Then, Homer has to learn to walkâŠ
Meh~tdology, fka Pepelaputr almost 11 years ago
If this is the epilogue to the Roman story, then Hope will have to be reborn again as well as Homer and Duncan.
Can't Sleep almost 11 years ago
Iâm done with Homer and Duncan. This one went on forever, and left me with an, âoh no.â Iâll keep reading Non Sequitur, but not the Homer stories.
GarfieldJune19 almost 11 years ago
Well, thereâs no Hope, and no Cash . . . . : D.
GarfieldJune19 over 5 years ago
When are we going to see Homer and Duncan next? I donât remember seeing the next storyline.
