He’s just trying to enjoy himself before Moses starts making up nonsensical rules that suck all the fun out of life.
Like washing your hands after using the toilet? I still struggle with that. Or not getting close to others after exposure to infectious diseases? That “nonsense” probably saved a life or two. And some of them perhaps do no more than show the difference between the holy and the profane, or more importantly that God actually takes our sin seriously enough that it would take a blood sacrifice to cover it.And ironically, by the way, Caleb was one of very few in that generation who actually “got it,” who understood what God was doing for the Israelis.
-He’s just trying to enjoy himself before Moses starts making up nonsensical rules that suck all the fun out of life.-Most archaeological researchers believe that Leviticus (the ‘nonsensical rules’ to which you refer) was written decades after Moses’ death, by the Levite leadership.
I find nothing in Leviticus or any of the Five Books of Moses that orders anyone to wipe out peopleof different skin colors.-Perhaps you have confused the Jewish people with the Nazis, those who sought to destroy anyone not ‘white enough’ for them?
I spent a year in Diego Garcia one month working the airlift out of there. Some crews would come off the plane grumbling about the remoteness of the location. Others got off the plane already in shorts with the barbecue and fishing gear. Ya make the best with whatcha got.
The requirement for different utensils for milk & meat probably made sense when the pots & pans were poorly fired unglazed pottery, the bowls were wood & the utensils were bone.
But with modern metal, ceramic & plastic, bowls, pots & utensils, they make no sense whatsoever & are used to control how people live.As an example, an Orthodox Jewish friend had to throw out the dishwasher when he bought a condo, as the rabbis tell him a dishwasher can’t be made kosher.
So then, what is the firing of rockets into populated areas of Israel?Does that fit your “genocide is genocide” meme. Or are the deaths of Jews irrelevant?
