I was the worst player on my freshman football team — never even got in a game — but the coaches certainly knew my name, plus the other benchwarmers. Meanwhile, Amy grows homelier by the day. I was always amazed at how quickly classroom teachers learned our names.I would bet that not all gym teachers knew.Coaches get to carry clipboards. That helps the ones who can read.
