Sign me up! Our electricity bill is now over $200/month. We could replace the washer every year and still save a ton.

AshburnStadium. About 10 minutes ago I found out that Exelon is buying my electric provider (Pepco). Thanks for making my day.

Replace it with a front loading washer. They are simpler, quieter, use less energy, soap, and water, clean better, handle larger loads and items like sleeping bags, coats, and blankets with less stress, and the spin cycle removes the water to where the clothes are almost dry.

Come on Marcy just break down and buy a new washer and dryer. Most or all are energy efficient.

The residents of Florida have been privileged to pay $1.5 billion to Duke Energy for a power plant that will not be built. And Duke can keep it, too! (Our state legislature at work!)http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/energy/thank-you-tallahassee-for-making-us-pay-so-much-for-nothing/2134390

Gokie5: To say nothing of making mountains of their ash, which then “landslide” into creeks and rivers, thus poisoning major water sources.

Energy from grey water? Cool. But also impossible, unless you use it to turn a water wheel.

All of the top loaders and most of the front loaders have AC induction motors which have no permanent field and won’t generate power when spun.

You need a permanent magnet dc or rectify a stepper motor. If you have power to supply a field, you can run a dc motor or an alternator.
