Tell Danae to do a book report on Frederic Brown’s Knock: “The last man on Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock on the door…” Pure and simple. :-)

Well then, she is still a slow reader. Or just like so many so-called ‘mature’ people who also do not know what they say. Oh, come to think of it, so many are politicians who have not in the least memory of anything they said. Well, what is that? Selective lying? Something they were born with?Lets hope Danae will grow out of it. So many people have not.

-Actually, in the best murder mysteries, the culprit is NOT found. The reader either knows or suspects who the murderer is (as in a ‘fair play’ clued mystery), but those searching for the culprit don’t find the murderer. Or worse, someone else is found based on circumstantial evidence, convicted and possibly executed, while the real murderer lives to continue acting.-There are a tremendous variety of mysteries and many challenge a reader’s abilities every bit as much as ‘literary’ fiction….

In the time it takes for this to sink in she could read War and Peace, and Stephen King’s The Stand….twice!

Simplifying the three movie extravaganza The Hobbit, or even the book (which is still worth the read…). There and Back Again.

Don’t hold your breath, Jeffery. Danae’s got the skull of a politician; nothing is going to sink in to all that hot air.

argy.bargy, sometimes I think the best American writing is to be found in detective novels….Carl Hiaasen, Robert Crais, Edna Buchannan, Nevada Barr, G. M. Ford……

    Night-Gaunt, nothing better than a good Columbo…
