Hello, long time lurker first time commenter. With Luann and her friends graduating high school, do you think Gregg is setting up Mr Fogarty to show up as a college professor? Or do you think Gregg is preparing to restart the strip after the summer and a Brad and Toni wedding? Similar to what they didin âFor Better or for Worseâ?
I suppose every good teacher will have moments of self-doubt and wonder whether he could have done things better from time to time. But if Fogarty has stayed on the job this long, he cannot be an utter failure. So, buck up, man! Look on the bright side!
The way some classrooms are set up, it would be simple for Mr. Fogarty to miss the poster on the front of his desk. For instance, if Mr. Fogartyâs desk is in the middle of the front of the room with the students facing east, his face would be toward the west. If the door to enter the classroom is located at the southeasterly corner of the room, Mr. Fogarty came in, turned right and went straight to his chair without seeing the poster on the front of his desk. ~Students have been pulling pranks on teachers for as long as there have been teachers. When I hung mistletoe above the doorway and a male and a female teacher stood under it conversing and wondering what everyone was snickering about, one of the teachers got mad and demanded to know who hung it. The response from my classmates was, âNobody knows.â I suspect that is what happened in Mr. Fogartyâs classroom when he demanded to know who put that poster on the front of his desk. ~That is what happens when one has a reputation of never telling on anyone else. :o)
Aunt Crusher likes to bring this to DeGroot family potlucks.
Rhubarb Bread (official recipe)

Combine brown sugar & oil. Stir in egg, sour milk, vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Stir in rhubarb and nuts. Pour into two well greased loaf pans. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle on top of batter. Bake 350 deg. for about 40 min. Do NOT overbake. Cool slightly before removing from pans.
Unofficial recipe: I donât use the topping as that makes it a cake, in my judgment.)
Hey, Foggy-Bottom? That Lady Youâre talking to?She INEXPLICABLY Has the âHotsâ for You, so WHY Donât the TWO of You Retire, Get Married or Something, and Live Semi-Happily Here-After in Some Over-Priced, Gated, Eastern Coastal Community and Plot the Downfall of the Western Millennial Civilization?
âI look forward to a wedding arch similar to the prom archâ*Sisterdame â I too would look forward to that, but an inner voice tells me there is going to be a terrible accident fighting a fire, and one of the two will be wheeled down the aisle on a stretcher or in a wheelchair.*Just as long as itâs not permanent.
Maybe Evans went on vacation and had to fill his quota before he left so he could actually have a vacation without doing a daily comic??? Could be why this arc is extending for sooo long. With due respect to the teaching profession and what they must endure now days, another arc please.
@Brdshtt-Once again, GoComics is not letting me use the reply function.-You are definitely a lot more entertaining than this current arc is! Thanks for giving me a reason to post on the site againâŠ
Whether or not it happens in the strip, I can visualize Fogarty walking through the school doors for the last time with a thought balloon over his head that says, âOh well, at least it was a job.â
Time to update Luannâs page on Wikipedia?*Couldnât remember the name of Aunt Crusher, and she is missing from Luannâs list of relatives. Mom & Dad get short shrift. Gunther is still timid. Time to update page? (If you do, it is so important to be unbiased.)*And pertinent to this arc, the page lists Mr. Fogarty as a history teacher. Hasnât he also been science & English teacher too? (Multi-faceted, Fogarty!)
Actually, the reason she âmovedâ for Quill is explained in the article linked to and cited and quoted above. She is the one who brought Quill back, for the purpose of giving Luann a steady boyfriend. Greg was the one who stated he was bored with his character, and he acknowledged that readers were, too. So he was brought back because of Karenâs input, and not because anyone thought that others were upset. â Also you either havenât been paying attention, or are generalizing when you say that I havenât been critical. I am in the ânon Quillâ camp. I was also vocal about Luann and Quill and the locked door. But he isnât a low down character as TJ has been, and he hasnât been despicable. He is just a âTeflon Touristâ, and a âQcumberâ, being âtoo coolâ to be âblamedâ for anything (The âZack Morris Effectâ, if you will)âŠ..
And as âSherriffâ pointed out the other day, feedback is something that Greg appreciates here on GC, Twitter and Facebook. He takes the time to gauge interest through these (and other) methods. But as he stated on the âStudioâ, he just doesnât have the time to âcomb throughâ each one, but he does gauge readersâ comments!
I stayed away from âLuannâ last night because I just could Not take another Fogarty comic at that hourâŠIâm back for more punishment tonight, though, with the waning hope that it just might be funny⊠;P

I donât think that this was what Fogarty meant by saying he was going to âlet them view a few shortsââŠ.

Good thing this is a light hearted comic strip. People who announce their retirement have a NASTY habit of dying in certain other genres.
Iâd expect to see the next arc be brad and toni as firefighters saving Fogartyâs burning house, only to find âhe didnât make it.â

Why do I get this feeling that Greg Evans is about to retire? Theyâre all graduating, getting married, retiring. Just like âBoy Meets World.â

Levi, not funny. Itâs not legal here, and we do not break laws or endanger others just for our own recreations.
