Have you ever seen a seen a dog rescue someone trapped from an avalanche, Lucy? No? How about a dog guiding someone blind across the crosswalk? No again? Now who’s the blockhead?
That is so ironic coming from “useful, contributing” Lucy. She does contribute heartache, pain and frustration, I guess.
Dogs contribute every day just by being. There’s nothing like a creature who is always glad to see you and doesn’t ask stupid questions or make “helpful” but esteem-killing remarks. Dogs are some of the most forgiving, compassionate people I know. You want to learn about unconditional love and acceptance? Get a dog.
Companionship is probably their greatest contribution. They like to hang out with us and don’t try to “one up” us. That makes them better than some people I know.
“Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside a dog, it’s too dark to read.” – Groucho Marx.
How about being a loyal friend, that sticks with me through thick and thin, who will listen to me and love me no matter what I do? I’ve never ever met a human being even close to how wonderful dogs are, and this barely scratches the surface.
@Snoopy_FanThank you so much for that Debarge song! It was lovely. I downloaded it onto my computer. I’m thinking of making a playlist. If I do, that song will be in it!-I’ve heard “Walk like an Egyptian” many times before but I never tire of it. You have fantastic musical taste. I’ve had that 2 Disc CD since I was little and I grew up listening to Motown music. I’ve always loved “Rhythm of the Night”-How did you know I loved horses? Either you’ve been reading my comments on Andy Capp or you’ve read it here. I did mention it here once or twice. I visit a stable near me and there were 3 horses there. They are not there anymore now but I don’t think they’ve left for good. I haven’t been for a while. I loved feeding them and patting their noses! Do you think I’m soft? LOL.-I had a very good week! I hope you did as well. -Now have a fabulous weekend. I’ll be thinking of you!Take care.xxx
Lucy,Snoopy has made many people laugh, whether just being himself or the WWI Flying Ace or an author or a vulture or a penguin or Joe Cool or Woodstock’s buddy or dancing with rabbits. He has encouraged people to look at life with a positive attitude and to dance. That’s more than you have done “for mankind.” So there! Pfffft!:-)

Biting Lucy on the leg would be a pretty good contribution to mankind.

Why should Snoopy contribute to mankind? What has Lucy done to dogdom?

Any time I get to cuddle a cat or dog, I refer to it as “fur therapy”. DEFINITELY a great service for mankind!

I, too, have refrained from biting people on the leg (recently….)
