Because it looks like hell when you do. “Does this dress make my butt look fat?” “No, honey, your fat bleeep makes your butt look big….” (He never heard the gunshot.)
I have learned through 40+ years of being married–
DON’T COMMENT on scenes like this–it only leads to
cold meals, cold tongue, and salads for six months.
Actually, most men are smart enough to never give a straight answer to a woman’s question about how she looks, because there is no correct answer. Evasion is the best strategy.
New studies indicate that women with a bit of padding in the rear are less prone to heart disease and cancer, and live longer than women with supermodel behinds. Therefore, the correct answer to “does my butt look big?” is, “It looks healthy, dear…”
Poor thing on Elly! She struggled to put the small size of pant on for every hour. She should wear a little extra size of pant that will fit her perfectly. She has to deal with her weight anyway.
When I was in Jr High, there were thin girls in PE who would lie on the floor like that to zip their jeans on, complete with the wheeze, etc. They may not have had a comparable “muffin top”, but any ounce of fat would have been there. That’s what this strip reminds me of
Myself, I have a baby just a little younger than Lizzie is here and I have lost most of the weight- I am still skinnier/fitter (2 different things) than when I was married, at least, if not as skinny/fit as before my 3rd/last pregnancy (not skinny though, just average and apparently healthy distribution, woo-hoo!). My husband, however, gained weight with each pregnancy and hasn’t lost any of it, so he is always impressed that I’m still in my old clothes.
In the olden days, girdles did just what this strip says. Shoved the belly fat up and down to give an hourglass figure.
I’ve got my “skinny pants”, my “fat pants”, and my “somewhere in-between” pants because my weight goes up and down depending upon what time of the year it is (heavier during the Thanksgiving/Christmas season … thinner after the first year when I go back on my diet!). I figure, why be miserable??? Elly should stop being so vein, for heaven’s sake, and just wear the size pants she really is! Let’s face it: a bulky sweater really doesn’t fool anyone - - - except maybe yourself!
Wow, has Lynn forgotten that this body belongs on old Elly, not young Elly? If you look at one of the original old strips, you’ll see just how skinny young Elly is supposed to be. This one was posted on Jan 11th, 2010, two weeks ago. Just how much weight did Elly gain in those two weeks?
There were 28 comments when I signed on and IndyMan had the very best response. Its not rocket science. You make her feel good, she makes you feel good. Or not. Choices, choices, choices.
And women: stop asking a question you know the answer too. Go straight to the point: Just ask for a hug.
Lastly , Elly (Lynn) All the beautiful movie stars “flesh out” in their 60’s and they are still as beautiful.

If you’re a few sizes larger than the clothes you have, but you wear them anyway, will they slim you down? Just asking.

This is Elly still not rid of the weight she gained giving birth to Elizabeth. Some never lose it.

Better to buy loose clothes. Then you don’t have to worry about this.

What makes you think Elly has to be 60 years old?! Those trousers were probably from a time before she had kids.

Does it make your butt look fat? No dear, fast food and donuts make your butt look fat.

Me are quick to criticize what women look like, while ignoring their own pot bellies.

Love the comments today… :-) As long as you try to be healthy, then it’s all good. But that “wheeze” panel was a bit scary…

Good luck taking care of the kids wearing that! You won’t be able to bend over or breathe all day!

Honestly, she’s so skinny that the shirt she’s wearing is still loose on her!

It’s funny, and I’ve done that. But the waist band hurts after a while. Best to admit you need a bigger size and be comfortable. It looks better too.

I remember this one.
Why do I remember this one?
Look at the big, white granny underwear. How did she ever get a husband?
