My wife puts out cat hair in the back yard near her bird feeders so birds have nest building material. She says the birds love clumps of fur for that purpose. I figure birds must not have a sense of smell, or they just don’t care where the fur comes from!

In one of my “Garfield” books, one of the uses of cat fur that has been combed away (or shed) is to knit yourself another cat with it.

My cat doesn’t bother with a comb. He just rolls around on my good clothes.

I had a small japanese dog named shiba-inu and it had the same number of hairs as large dogs. It was just concentrated.
