Play away, Superfrog. This is supposed to be FUN!! I’m fairly certain the Creator didn’t need a drafting board to work on his designs, nor did he require a light, unless… Hmmmm, another conspiracy begins to emerge…. Oh! And this HAS to be heaven, because there are no COMPUTERS!!!!

somebodyshort…that’s a handwheel not a crank. hey joe…alittle oxymoron….a vessel is among other things anything that’s hollow and floats. maybe it was a “boat” or better yet a “ship”. do you want us to believe you were there? boy, superfrog are they jumping on you this morning! the guy looking down is parjanya (god of rain). he’s the one who operates the handwheel.

I’m confused, of course I know very little of Noah’s Ark.

If somebody were willing to explain it to me, without being condescending, I would appreciate it.

Hey there LuvH8, and God said to Noah; Noah build an ARCH. Unfortunately Mrs Noah was nattering away and Noah though God said ARK. So now God is trying to figure out what to do with the bleeep boat, and how to start over. We all know how that happened don’t we…

The comment thread today is just about as funny as the strip … which is what a comic ought to produce, I think. Superfrog, very funny play on words. Joe-Allen, see Isaiah 6:1-2 where the prophet Isaiah says In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. NIV Seraphs are angels of course. You are right as far as I know about there being no mention of halos in the Bible, however. Funny references to St Louis and the Golden Arches … and especially to fire hydrants in heaven for doggies!

Do you think there are dogs in Heaven showing other dogs how to use the hydrants? I don’t think my dog used one when he was alive.

Cubit - an ancient measurement of length determined by the forearm from the tip of the middle finger to the end of the elbow. Depending on the ruler of the time, it varied from about 14” to 20”.

If one accepts the “royal cubit” to be approx. 18” (1.5’) the ark was just about 480’ long.

Canpot the plural is seraphim. serifs are the details on the letters of many typefaces. as opposed to the sans serif we have here.

Do you suppose the cubit is relatively longer or shorter now that the middle finger is in much more frequent use?

Canpot, I think if you check, Seraphs are just that, a separate creature and not an angel nor an archangel. Those are all 3 different creatures.

    Yo cmugnier,

Not all arches are inverted catenaries like the centroid of the St. Louis Gateway Arch. It was built according to the equation:

    y=693.8597-68.7672cosh(0.0100333x)

Just thought you’d like to know.

Hey Joe-Allen, the VA gives me lots and lots of pills, the ones for psychiatric nut cases are green and white, the red ones are for the bladder, and the blue ones are for pain. I take them all and I feel much better now.

Jewish mythology (reflected in several places in the Bible) had a hierarchy of what we loosely term “angles” - these include seraphim, cherubim, thrones, powers (a list given by St Paul in one of his epistles). Strictly, an “angel” is from the Greek “angelos” meaning simply a messenger and not necessarily a heavenly being at all.

Personally, I prefer the conspiracy theory.

@JPSteve: Those are Angelenos, where I started (now an Altadenan).

@JOD: Red pills vs. Blue pills – I’m pretty sure the reference is to The Matrix movies. Morpheus offers Neo a choice; to take the blue pill, where “the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe”, or to take the red pill, where “you stay in wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbithole goes.”
