Should be REND not RENDER

No, Tyr’s actually thinking about melting his enemies down for their fat, one limb at a time. He’s just that kind of guy.

Chikuku: The comics wouldn’t be as funny? If this were “Li’l Abner” or “Snuffy Smith”, I’d agree with you, but for a strip like this, how would eliminating typos, misspellings, or mis-used words make something less funny? You think “rendering” makes it funnier than “rending”? I’d be interested in hearing your reasoning.

Maybe it’s not Dunlap who made the mistake, but Tyr (or his translator amulet is faulty).
Spelling mistakes in dialogue are more problematic, but grammatical errors or malapropisms might be excusable as an accurate record of incorrect speech. “Rendering” someone limb from limb may be improper usage, but real people still say it that way often enough, so why shouldn’t fictional characters?
On the other hand, maybe Tyr is simply suggesting that evildoers should have their full-body portraits accurately and artistically drawn (with or without quartering)…

Fritzoid: If Tyr made the mistake, then HE can hire me. If his amulet made the mistake, Dunlap can draw him a new one. If the misuse was purposeful, then it should be an obvious part of the joke. Jus’ sayin’.
