My birthday is the 22nd of the month, and my sister, who was five years younger, was born on the 5th of the same month. I drove my poor mother crazy, demanding that is just wasn’t fair. “I’m the oldest. I should have the first birthday. She’s the baby, and HER birthday should come last.”
The importance of an event is inversely proportional to the frequency of it’s actually happening. After 60, time goes so fast that birthdays happen about every two months of elementary school time, so they aren’t especially interesting.
My auntie thought my Mum’s birthday was on 11th June but it’s 11th of July.So she must have been pretty happy and relieved that she didn’t miss it after all.xxx
It’s pretty standard among my relatives for second children to have birthdays earlier in the year than first children (first one in November, second in October; first in June, second in March; first in December, second in July; first in April, second in March). No oldest children complained about not having the first birthday of any given year; among me and my siblings, only one of us six children has a birthday later in the year than the oldest! And the two youngest have birthdays earlier in the year than the other four of us! Never heard any bragging from them.
They should have a large-block calendar hanging on a closet door in plain sight, with Earl’s birthday and any other birthdays they wish to remember, plainly printed in the correct squares. And copy those birthdays into the appropriate date blocks for the next year, on next year’s calendar. I’ve been doing this for years, adding people marrying or born into the family. Wedding anniversaries, too.

I completely understand. I’m told I have another birthday this year, too.

My dad stopped having birthdays at 29. He then had anniversaries of his 29th birthday. 53 of them to be exact!

I skipped 29 and practiced being 30.

my dad turned 90 in April but he had a hard time remembering what day, my sister had to show him on his drivers license…….yes he still drives, sigh.
