Non Sequitur by Wiley Miller for July 27, 2014
Transcript:
Reporter: Ok...so it turned out there wasn't an advanced army of alien roaches hiding inside the moon, preparing to invade Earth...right? Man: Uh...so? Reporter: So...you blew up the moon for nothing, resulting in disastrous consequences on a planetary scale. Man: I fundamentally disagree with that. Reporter: Wait...you disagree about the actual results of your actions? Man: Facts are debatable. Reporter: Um...blowing up the moon put us back to living in caves and on the verge of extinction. Man: Look...dwelling on the past isn't going to change that, so let's stay focused on what we should do now. Reporter: Like trying to blame all of it on the current administration for not putting the moon back together, right? Man: Oh, like that's so much to ask!

Varnes you know as well as any of us that the "I have a pen and a phone President " doesnât need approval from anyone to do anything (weekend appointments, executive orders , etc)

âThe people are more taken in by a big lie than by a small one.â That was said by some loony goose-stepping putz with a Charlie Chaplin mustache. Trubble is, lotsa people WERE taken in by it.

I think we need to get beyond all of this and start trying to blame the prior administration for not putting it back together.Dwelling in the past doesnât help anybody. And the beat goes onâŠ

That depends on your definition of Progress, and maybe on what IS, is.True progress is toward global peace and equality, after all, when your intentions are pure, and weakening any impediment to the overthrow of all the worldâs governments by a single philosophy, theology or governing doctrine is certainly progress toward that goal. What results is a secondary consideration.Only the pure intentions may be judged.

Leftists pretend that President Bush is to blame for the world today. The truth is Iraq was a nascent democracy with al Qaeda extinguished and Afghanistan had the Taliban under control. Libya had given up its weapons of mass destruction, Egypt was stable, Palestine was quietly building a country, albeit slowly. It is only under the genius that the world spun out of control. We can agree that Obama is not Bush.

Like the 51 times they voted to stop Obamacare?

Geez, if itâs sunday itâs Meet the Press.
OK the problem is that neither party can look past their partisanship. Willey is right, so is @jbmlaw about Iraq, Egypt and Libya.
So with that said does anyone think maybe Wiley is making fun of both parties seeing that just yesterday our embassy in Libya was exacuated?

âThere are over 400 bills that have been passed in the House but âDingy Harryâ Reid will not bring a single one to the floor of the Senate for debate.â.Yep â and over 50 of them have been to repeal the Affordable Care Act. The others have had similar value â and itâs the Senate Republicanâts who are blocking debate on many of them with filibuster threats! .The ones the House arenât voting on include funding for the VA and Border Patrol, immigration reform, the Violence Against Women Act renewal, and other major pieces of legislation the Tea Party masters wonât let Boehner bring up because they know the legislation would pass in a bipartisan heartbeat â without the TPers. NOTHING of that importance is hung up in the Senate.

Boy, a lot of people here think Bush Jr.âs mistakes are a lot worse than Obamaâs mistakes. Kind of like saying itâs worse to be scalded on your left side than your right side.

Funny how the few conservatives here who get it, still try to dodge it. They just canât own the fact that theyâre responsible for the many Bush/Cheney disasters. No matter, the world knows, and history (the real kind, not the Koch brothers kind) will not skip a beat.
bdy2014 over 10 years ago
Funny how few partisan liberals here get it, still try to dodge it. They just canât own the fact that theyâre responsible for the nation and promised to fix it as a condition of election. No matter, the world knows, and history will not skip a beat in pointing out the failure to lead when given the opportunity.

Try a web search for:âbill clinton meaning of isâThis administration is not much different from the last, which was not much different from the one before. The important thing is that half the time, the horrible idiocy of the ruling class meets your approval, if only because it defies your enemies, who happen to live next door and must be annihilated for you to live in peace.Namaste.

I love how so many haters of this strip go right past the point to remark on their notion that the other side is worse, thinks theyâre perfect, or both. Wiley implies no judgment of the âcurrent administrationâ for what it actually HAS done. Whether your faults are few or many, anyone who makes that much effort to heap someone elseâs mistakes onto your plate is too busy casting blame to be a part of the solution.
