As humorous as this was at the time, real world consequences have been felt. My immediate family, wife, two kids and myself are apparently permanently banned from donating blood to the Red Cross due to living in Europe when the mad cow disease was being felt. Over these many years I have checked to see if the ban is still in place and it continues to be.
