I’m part Indian and have no problem with the name of the Washington Redskins, neither do any other Indians that I know. The name was meant as a compliment.
Historically, the woods were full of bigoted sports owners (and players), but is that an excuse today? No. Next problem to be solved? Let’s get rid of Thursday night football! Only play it on Sunday and Monday the way the football gods intended.

Well said.

It’s really pretty simple. Imagine instead of “Redskins” the DC team had historically been called the “Washington N_____s”.
Would any announcer use that horribly offensive word? No. So don’t use “Redskins” which is just as offensive.

There must be some cleverly ironic name they could use instead – the Washington White Elitists maybe

Oops—Russets are a white potato. Just make it a really red skin potato.
