Um…the group “Survivor” had a number of Top 10 hits, including “Burning Heart” and “The Search Is Over”. They were far from a “one-hit wonder”. They were already pretty big when tapped to do “Rocky III”.
There was a story once about a mail order weight lifting course, ie they’d mail out weights, you’d use them for a week, send them back and they’d mail heavier ones, etc.One man took this course, and one day his friend dropped by: “How is the weight-lifting course going?“Not too good – I usually am too busy and just send them back at the end of the week.”“Hmmm – explains why your mailman is becoming quite a hunk!”
I always thought one hit wonder meant just making the Top 40, not necessarily #1, only once. While Eye of the Tiger was the only #1, Peterik’s Wikipedia page lists several Top 10 hits, from his days in Survivor.
No obstacle course like in boot camp?.In my case, we didn’t have much of an obstacle course in boot. When I enlisted in the USN (in ’50) it was peace-time (for another 27 days) and things were a little more relaxed.

It looks like in panel #1, Rodney has successfully done a curl with that rather heavy looking barbell. Way to go, Rodney. Now go for two.

Hey, it can’t be a real discipline without jargon.

“…and he’s watching us all with the eye of the tiger…” – Survivor, “The Eye of the Tiger”.
