Curse or beauty is in the eye of the beholder, especially to a parent.

Pooh.They started those sales right after July 4th around here.

Can’t wait for the thefts to go down once the little IIT’s(Inmates In Training) are back in school.

Oh give me a break….she enjoys driving her teacher insane and she knows it…..What? ….new teacher? the previous one is sedated in a straight jacket? Dang! she has to redo her last accomplishment then!

Time to lock up the little disease vectors six hours a day, five days a week until next spring.

I’m only dreading it because I’ll be going back to salary and 30 hours a week. Instead of hourly and 40+ hours a week, I’ll be making less money and having to deal with kids.

Just remember that Danae isn’t stuck in school, all of school is stuck with her.

“Don’t be a fool, and go back to school, Danae.”-

For what? All she’s going to do when goes back is give the teacher in her class a hard time!

Exactly the way I felt as the end of the holidays got closer. And they started a month out from when school got back, SO NOONE WOULD BE SURPRISED!!

This applies to the work-a-day world as well. Where the word w**k is a curse word when proceeded by back-to.

I LOVED School!

I remember those days well. As soon as you broke up for summer the shops, TV and radio were haranguing you (or your parents, more accurately) with “back to school” deals.

I love Danae! That’s exactly how I felt. And as a parent I hated parent-teacher night. :-b

I know just how she feels :(

Now what does she think she is kidding, besides herself?

Our state (NC) used to have a tax-free weekend prior to the school year. Exempt were children’s clothing and school supplies (including computers). The legislature nixed it this year so they could raise more money.

Thousands of people drove out of state to Virginia and South Carolina (you can get to one or the other in about an hour’s drive) for their tax free weekend. While there, they probably had lunch and tanked up their cars since gas is cheaper in either of these states.

Not only did we not get the tax money, we lost business. Good move, morons!

I always thought the first few days were a lot of fun, seeing old friends, and stuff. But I admit that wore off after a while…..Nothing ever compared to the last day of school, though…That sense of freedom and the whole summer stretching out before you……..

Yep, then boom, your back & it’s almost Christmas!

It’s not the word that’s bad, but peoples’ reaction to it.

Ah, ‘back-to-school ads’ never affect us homeschoolers. :)

jimboklein, here in the wise state of Michigan, it is against the law to hold classes until after Labor Day…..We are a tourist state…Hey we need those kids to sell souvenirs and haul luggage……..And besides, the last two weeks of August should be honored as a blessing….
