Ellen should have taken the plate away from where Ruthie could see it, and then turned the sandwich over. Works every time. -My younger sister was this way when she was a kid. If one thing on her plate touched anything else on the plate, she wouldn’t eat a thing. Our Mom learned early to just take the plate back into the kitchen, carefully move the mashed potatoes away from the lamb chop and wipe off any evidence that the two had ever been near each other.
I did not grow up like Ruthie did but had cousins who was picky on their eating. My mom stressed eat what was put before you. She had a rough life. Surprised when my dad was out of work eating either waffles or beans. I do not like beans and not wanting waffle’s or pancakes not too often.
I liked the BK burger the way it was, produce on the bottom, meat on the top, They changed it to meat on the bottom then produce. I tried ordering upside down whoppers, then gave up. Now I just eat them upside down. (the whoppers, not me.)

Ham and Swiss on Rye. Mustard on the Ham side and mayo on the Swiss side. Screw it up and I’m one unhappy customer!

Petey from Cul de Sac could give Ruthie some lessons on being a picky eater. He would never have the bread touch the meat or the cheese.

The only thing I don’t like to touch on my plate is something that should be crisp (like fries or toast) with anything wet (like gravy or catsup).
Nothing but salt on my fries (recent date put catsup on part of them so I took only ones which did not touch – w/o comment).

Like the comic strip n this in particular….all these comments are close to 4 years old….seems weird to add since none of the above will note this!
