So where are the nosey people who report on kids whose parents are not taking care of them? James parents would have had any number of visits from HHS wanting to take James away. Can’t see his parents resisting that at all.Yes, I realize its a comic and real world rules do not apply. But geeze, the number of busy bodies seem to have multiplied, calling the cops if parents not hovering over their shoulders. And lets not forget school. Some teacher would have noted that James is vastly ignorant and reported to HHS.That, along with turning schools into prisons appears to be the US in the 21st century
Busybodies can call all they like, but you need real grounds to take a child away from his parents or risk the parents filing a lawsuit. James isn’t being beaten or molested, he isn’t missing school on a regular basis, CPS would probably find food in the kitchen, a bed for him to sleep in and clothes for him to wear. Letting your kid hang out with the neighbor’s kids on a regular basis isn’t a crime.
