Yesterday *tsull* brought up the question of how could Annie know bout the Wrist Wizard when she vanished 4 years ago.--In all the discussions, we all forgot that “comics time” and real time are different. As far as the story is concerned, I think Annie’s only been missing a few months.Otherwise, Annie would be a lot older, and the Butcher would have had plenty of time for Paolo to get him into hiding. But he was still on his way to his hideaway when this story began. So it couldn’t be taking place too long after the “Annie” strip ended.-—-As for knowing about the Wizard, Daddy might have told her (I’m sure he keeps up on new innovations from Diet Smith’s company; Wrist Wizards, Space Coupes, time machines…)
Sounds like we’ll finally learn what Axel is up to. I’m sure Tracy will find a safe listening spot during his morning visit to bring Axel the Simmons Corners crime news.
DoctorWho55 suggested that Hotshot Charlie may have dropped off the Asp during his flyover. The “Man With the Hat” could not have been dropped off by Hotshot Charlie because the “Man With the Hat” appeared in August 16 strip. Charlie’s flyover was on the 24th. And the “Man With the Hat” appeared in the same strip while Charlie was flying overhead on the 24th.
Concerning the art, the daily strip hasn’t looked the same since August 30. Go back and look for yourself. It looks more like the Sunday strip, not the coloring with the gradient tones on all the colors, which I don’t personally like as much as the solid color dailies, but the inks have gone too harsh, and the look as changed. Pencils are the same. I cant get my photo bucket to cooperate or I would show you the new horizontal lines in Annie’s red hair, the horizontal line below her eyes, all new since 8/30.
First of all, you cant deny there is a BIG art difference in the Sunday and Daily appearance, right?
MeTV will start showing The Adventures of Superman, from the 1950’s, starting with episode #1 on Saturday Sept. 6th. You can check the link for a station and time in your area.
How many changes of clothes did treacy bring on this Magical Mystery tour? Dress blues, now a freshly pr essed suit. Does he have a valet we haven’t seen? Jeeves Perhaps? Yeah, and what about those fingernails, or lack thereof? I’m sure it’s another deep secret the fans will figure out.
A special note for you Tracy fans. Mike Curtis, Joe Staton, Shelley Pleger, and Sgt. Jim Doherty will all be in Baltimore, Maryland attending the Baltimore Comic-Con. They will all be present to see if Dick Tracy wins another Harvey Award. This may be the only time you will get to see all of them together in one place! If you are at the con, be sure to stop by their booth and say hi.
It’s been 38 days since the last true bit of ”Action” (or as Neil would call it. Boom POW!). I personally don’t consider eating popcorn, watching a plane fly by, listening to the radio, Flirting with your stalker, strolling through the woods, shaking hands, twirling a nightstick, or drinking coffee as action. Tossing a glass of water in Tracy’s face, now that’s action!!! This story has grounded to a halt!
All those things you say aren’t called “action” are called plot and development. They are elements of writing. Sounds like you’d prefer the WWE. Sorry you find it boring, but this storyline brought me to Dick Tracy and I’m enjoying it very much.
Aw, Hell…..I’m goin’ back to Gasoline Alley. Things make sense there, even if the characters are stupid these days….
Walt still turns up on occasion. Dick Tracy seems to be a guy who always needs rescuing. Not right……He was a hero back in the ol’ days. Now, he’s a victim. Oh, well….Aren’t we males ALL part of THAT??
George Takei used to be a member of the board of directors of the Southern California Rapid Transit District. I saw him in the lobby at 425 South Main St. many times. No kisses, though.

I have a feeling that when Hotshot Charlie did a fly over he managed to drop of a passenger.Like the Asp,he could be the man reading the newspaper.

Looks like Mike and Joe are trying to save a few bucks by not drawing fingernails. Either that or the popcorns so good they both bit them off!

The game’s afoot! I hope Tracy and Annie can eavesdrop without getting caught! If they succeed, we could begin to look for some action….

Is there significance to so much attention to the popcorn?
Jelfring Premium Member about 10 years ago
You are right cockerham2, the art work is different. Too much black hatching in Annie’s hair.

Close attention to the popcorn box this time around. Listening device in the bottom of the bag?
Hmm. I wonder . . .

Forgive me if someone else has already mentioned this, also for being a nitpicker. In a 1944 culture, would Tracy be wearing his hat in a theater?

No. And what the hell has happened to the art?!?!???
