Yes, as formulaic as his pictures were, he could do a decent picture in half an hour. Especially all those happy trees and that path that leads to the cabin. It’s your world, you can put it anywhere…
Pab- That has to set a record for dead people in one strip! btw sweet self pic
@Fairportfan2 - I not only remember Jon Gnagy, I once knew a woman whose father produced his show.
I’ve also been to Fairport Ct. & remember Fairport Convention ♬ ;-)
Yes, today’s was great! and I like the way Pab got perspective on those famous self portaits. and Bill Alexander’s work probably appealed to some… heck, I even know some people who buy a Kincade;-) De gustibus non est disputandum;-)
now, see how easy it is to put in this happy little tree. See how happy he is living next to the busy little stream…….happy happy happy, busy busy busy
My mom used to watch Bob Ross while she sat with a elderly man w/ the “Big C” years ago and they would paint. She wrote to Ross, told him about the experience, sent him photos of their work and he answered her letter by sending her paint, brushes, supplies and an EISEL! I had to go out to the Hardwear store to buy her a small garbage can w/ ashort metal pipe -To clean her brushes like Bob did on his show.
She has one painting left that she stil says is “Not Finished”
ah, Bob Ross!
i remember when i was a wee one i was glued to the TV when his show was on. one of the reasons i went into art.
Thanks, Pab, you’ve inspired me to go get reaquainted with a childhood favorite (there must be some VHS tapes of him on amazon or something).
Giant baby bottle? I actually only completely recognised the 2nd and 3rd frames;-( I have to use a hand magnifier to see them larger, and I don’t remember Bob Ross - but then most of you probably don’t remember Francois Pope (who predated Julia C as a TV chef, and inspired me to great cooking!)
I prefer the German: “Jeder hat sein Geschmack”, thus proving both our points. (Pronunciation key: YAY-der hot ZINE ge-SHMAHK. Rolls off the tongue…and right across the Polish and French borders.)
(Even after all the commentary I still have no idea who or what Bob Ross is or was. But I’m pretty sure the other guy’s name was spelled Nagy, though I don’t care enough about either of them to Google. Too many other comics to read before bedtime.)

I had a Jon Gnagy art kit back in the 70s also but I do love watching Bob Ross and the happy little trees “living right here”.
