I used to work for a cardiologist who insisted his patients adopt a dog. “You will save his life, and he will save yours.” He said a nice walk with a dog was better than exercising at a gym – and you can’t ignore a dog.

One of the most enlightening things I realized about dog ownership is: I smile every day. Not just a shallow smile but something deep and heart felt, which didn’t always happen when I didn’t have a dog.

PetFinder.com has what you are looking for if this strip gives you any ideas. I’ve adopted 2 dogs and 3 cats from that site, and they’re one of the few things I have that have lived up to their advertising.

I wake up with a smile on my face and a song in my heart every day because of my dog! I don’t know what I’d ever do without her.

Thank you for the tribute to our vets, and to all the dogs who take care of them when they come home. :-D
