Hmm I’m wishing we could at least switch to HQ and hear Virgil’s confession.
I’m betting that what Dick was so upset about on the phone was that Virgil has some sort of Diplomatic immunity and will walk away scott free after murdering Jr in front of witnesses.. this would explain his statement that he was innocent even though he was clearly guilty of the crime.
I think the big “flooom” was too much for this strip. I certainly hope it’ll get back to the normal fast paced, exciting comic strip we are accustomed to reading. Fortunately, Flight Suit, wndrwrthg, and the other comments are here to entertain us.
Picking up the kids guitar
Maestro proved he was a star
Laying down a red hot riff
He proved he had the gift
It was easy to play rock and or roll
For music was in his soul
Jimi, Eddie, Eric and Jeff, even as superb as they were
To the maestro they would certainly have to defer
For he was able to smoke them all
Leaving them to just stare in awe
A tribute to his dead son is what he wanted
For by his memory he was haunted
Struck down as he was in his prime
After committing the larcenous crime
That was to lead to his death
He saved his dad with his last breath
So now as implausible as it seems
Pops will fulfill his sonny boys dreams
i’m going to make a guess. The first thing Dick Locher will do after his contract on DT ends this December wiil be to “write” a book on his favorite theme.
I can even suggest a title - ”Corny Puns instead of Guns”
Yesterday. in the excitement of Flight Suit’s “Flooom” presentation, I ommited in my congratulatory post to “highlight” his portrayal of that “executed” yellow (billed) rubber ducky !
Not only was it timely but (not intending to “disrespect” the departed) - it seemed a SILLY place to stick a memorial every Sunday.
And what way have been loving, hugging ”personal” scribles to Locher, became “intrusive”, bugging dribles – resented by many.
It was the sort of ongoing ‘recognition’ that not even creator Chester Gould got in HIS strip !
It may not have caused a sense of antipathy had he not postured as a “knowledgeable” CHANGE MASTER altered so many well known faces and commit the sin of dropping the ‘signature’ Dick Tracy HAT,
Note, it was retained for his D.T. “statue” yesterday !
Who is Phil giving the finger to? There isn’t any guitar chord like that….
Lochers way of giving us all the finger I guess
BTW unless thats a Bass hes playing it doesn’t even have enough strings.
I only count 4 strings and thats if you include the edges of the neck as a string to, otherwise it has two strings… no wonder its easy to play
clapclapclapclap whistle all right, wndrwrthg!! Wonderful verses as usual ! I wonder when and where this memorial concert will be? Maybe it’ll be tied into the next story? Time will tell…
Davison77 can’t wait for the next adventure which will start on April 11.
It’s a tale with THREE, ”FAMILIAR” sequences –
!) It all starts at home. (Like he’s employed, but he doesn’t go to work -anymore !?) It’s been that way since December 2008 -
2) It will be another, “for” CHARITY event, like the 2007 Haunted Mansion story ! -
3) A unique “broken window” event will be repeated in this tale. For a peep at the earlier occurance (Queen of Diamonds) in 2007, March 3, 5 and 7
http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2007/03/03
When you see the “same” thing repeated in mid April 2010, you’ll recall that YOU saw it first ! - The similarity may well knock your ‘socks’ off !
One has to believe that somewhere along his learning curve, Locher absorbed the “idea” that comic strip writing was LIKE pop music. if you played it over and over on the AIR, it might well become a “HIT” !
You wouldn’t be far wrong if you concluded that the man repeats his own “mistakes” !

He was a master in the art of converting Stradivarius violins. Unfortunately, his prices (you saw the bag of money he received from Virgil Ohso) put him out of business. Off shore converters are now converting them at much lower prices.

ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz………….
Wait, what? The story’s not over?
Hey, I gotta hand it to Locher: He tricked us with a false ending!
That’s something, right?
Right?
No?
OK, I go back to sleep now…

Is this an April Fool’s joke????
How long can they drag this story out????
Where is Tess???
She is the one who leads Tracy to these crimes.
He should get rid of her.
Tess is nothing but “Bad Luck”
Tracy needs a night out with the boys, instead of with Tess!!!
Some beer and a “Lap Dance” is what he needs. Not the circus or concert hall.

How many players hold a guitar as they would a violin?

(A B7 looks a little similar, but notice his middle finger isn’t on a string. That isn’t a B7.)

Andres Segovia (sp?) was a classical guitar player, and held his guitar in such a way that it appeared tucked under his chin.
