Moe: "Get off the swing, twinky"
Calvin: "Forget it, Moe. Wait your turn"
*PUNCH*
Calvin: "It's hard to be religious when certain people are never incinerated by bolts of lightning"
Psst, Cal, you won’t want to hear that, j-u-u-s-t may..be, Susie Derkins is quite able to do something really good to Moe? Not inconceivable that she can act like a bolt of lightning , … IF …
Is that quote Douglas Adams? He’s quite funny but in this case wrong. Jesus did not promise the end of all wicked people – or even any wicked people. Oh, and my church actually was struck by lightning about 9 years ago. You weren’t visiting, were you?
Not a good day for Calvin, after sitting in class all morning looking forward to recess. At least he will have his faithful tiger to greet him when he gets home. When bullies are in elementary school, they think that the playground is their world. When they grow up, they think that other people’s world is their playground. Actually, adult bullies have never grown up.
HUGE Methodist church in Inverness, Florida was struck by lightening recently, split in two, over $1 million in damage. Property’s for sale and services being held in nearby elementary school. I heard some wag suggest the school install lightening rods if it doesn’t already have them.
Back in the 80’s the best way to take care of a bully was to hand him his ass. It may not be PC, but it got the point across that you weren’t going to take their crap.
Calvin! YOU wishing for a distribution of lightening bolts? Do you remember, oh, for instance, your babysitter?? Here’s a new saying for you: BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!!
Excuse me, I never said I agreed with it or espoused it. I’m saying that’s what happened. You complained about being bullied, you were told “fight back” by your parents, or by teachers, “they’re just being kids.” It happened. A lot.
But I never said it was right. Go rant at someone else.

If Calvin had realized that he was in a comic strip, he would have known that it would contain a PUNCH line.

The artwork on this strip is amazing. And, I am not a violent person, but, I agree with Calvin. The lightning bolt would be a good thing.

I wonder what the first balloon originally said? The all-cap version in the same font as the other balloons.

Religious? What religion?

In those days they were told to hit back. Bullying came under the heading “boys will be boys.”

I’ve been studying brotherhood; and the lesson I’ve learned is this:He who turns the other cheek gets hit with the other fist.

@gcruse: Moe speaks in a different font. Bill Watterson did that intentionally.

In the next decade or so Calvin and Moe will become friends, then lovers and will get married and adopt two little girls.
