I think all Dogs do whatever they want when Humans are not around, I know my last dog used to sleep where she couldn’t if I was around. It was easy to figure out by the nice warm shot she would leave or sometime she was asleep when I walked into the house.
Had a boxer that when my father left the bed he would take his place. He found out because he forgot something. He saw him and “fussed” at him. He wagged his stubby tail.
The only furniture my dog used to go on when we left was the kitchen table! Its not something I ever had to tell her not to do when we were around… she apparently already knew it was a bad idea according to humans. But I caught her once or twice seeing her through the window from outside!
We had two Springer Spaniels about 25 years ago, and we allowed them to get up on the couch in the family room, but not on the couches in the living room, and they were pretty good about following the rules. At least we never found any dog hair on the couches in the living room.
When my daughter and fiancé leaves she shuts her bedroom door so their dogs do not jump on the bed. They allow on comfy furniture they bought from people getting rid of furniture. The dogs all are Golden Retriever’s. The dogs have their favorite spot to lay on.

Do you, Elly, ever wonder why there’s dog fur on your furniture after telling Farley countless times not to jump thereon?

Farley’s no fool. Why sleep on the furniture when the bed is sooo much bigger and softer.

Remember it is called fur-niture for a reason.

Our cat would never, ever jump on the table – except when he thought we weren’t around.
