@Ravenswing - I’ve found the quickest way to get rid of a telemarketer is to say, “Now isn’t a good time, could I have your home number, and I’ll call you back?” Especially effective for me with female callers. They hang up without even replying!
@Stuart. Yes Stuart that is exactly what I tell them as well. I have done that since I saw it on Seinfeld years ago. Before I used to do as Gertie does, ONLY a lot worse!!! Even at my mother’s house. After I would hang up, my mother would tell me “Well done, I couldn’t have said it better”
When the economy was better, I actually brought a telemarketing rep to silence one time by saying, “Dude, why are you doing this for a living? Do you really enjoy this kind of work?”
I’m firm and I don’t let them ramble, but I do I actually try to show some compassion. Who knows? There but for having a good, stable job go I…
Uhhhh….speaking of “poor writers.” It took a while to get through the spelling and punctuation problems to try to figure out what you were attempting to say.
This is an excellent comic. It does not deserve the cheap assessment you gave it in ALL CAPS.
Now THAT’S effective telemarketing! I just ordered “many cheap and fashion stuff” at a terrific savings, and fully expect to have “beautiful and sexy beyond limits” as promised within 7-10 business days. Get it before they delete the post!!!!
ocean17, I think you and devonshade should put together a feature proposal for the syndicate. Even if I hated it, I’d still follow it faithfully, of course, because I also have nothing better to do. You’d better handle the punctuation, and leave the uplifting content to your partner. Good luck!

Though it seemed insignificant at the time, that refusal by Gertie would have repercussions that would alter the destinies of many many characters…

Right, Devonshade, because we’re all sweet and syrupy to telemarketers who barge in while we’re waiting for important calls.
She’s not shouting insults or obscenities, after all.

She heard “The Home for Wayward Boll Weevils”?
I think it’s time to stop worrying about Walt’s medication, and start asking what Gertie’s on.

Interesting discussion, this. I agree with some of you. On the other hand, I have a hard time agreeing with the rest of you.
But I read GA because I like it. No other reason.

I hope that settles the matter.
