Mrs. Olsen: WHAT? It's supposed to be 50 degrees and gray. Miss Plainwell: That's perfect weather for a marathon. Mrs. Olsen: So perfect means weather you wouldn't rather be doing something actually fun in. Miss Plainwell: Mrs. Olsen and I were talking about the weather. Frazz: That's the perfect thing to talk with Mrs. Olsen about.

That sign is Miss Plainwell’s marathon number, right? Also, Mrs.Olsen, no two people look at cold weather the same way.

It sounds like Mrs. Olsen is referencing 50 Shades of Gray.

50 degrees, in Michigan especially, isn’t cold. It’s a nice temp that allows you to run without sweating profusely, though. And it allows you to run better, because you’re not overheating as quickly. If you live in Florida, on the other hand, you have your heaviest winter coat on and you’re complaining how cold it is this year. As big as Mrs Olsen is, you’d think she’d enjoy the cooler weather.

I remember an idiot reporter commenting on the day of an LA marathon that it would be a perfect 85 degrees for the race. Clueless!

50 degrees and gray? Isn’t that the very popular, smutty book that they’re making a movie from?

Grey is fine as long as it’s not actually raining, but I’d prefer a little closer to 60 for serious running (Biking, whatever)
